Amanda Anisimova battled her way to her maiden Grand Slam final, defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three-set Wimbledon semifinal.
The 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory showcased Anisimova’s resilience and marked her as the first American to reach the Wimbledon women’s final since Serena Williams in 2019.
Anisimova, ranked World No. 13, displayed steely determination over the two-and-a-half-hour match. She claimed the first set 6-4, capitalizing on Sabalenka’s unforced errors.
The Belarusian fought back in the second, breaking Anisimova early to level the match with a 6-4 set of her own.
The decisive third set saw intense exchanges. Sabalenka struck first, breaking Anisimova in the opening game, but the American responded immediately with a break of her own.
Anisimova’s composure shone through as she secured another break at 3-1, exploiting an errant smash from Sabalenka.
Despite a late surge from Sabalenka, who narrowed the gap to 5-4 with a perfect service game and a break, Anisimova held firm.
She clinched the match on her fourth match point, ending Sabalenka’s hopes with a final break in the tenth game.

Anisimova now awaits the winner of the Iga Swiatek and Belinda Bencic semifinal, as she prepares to compete for the prestigious Wimbledon title.
