The 27-year-old posted on Twitter, “It was such a great experience learning from you. Wishing you nothing but the best. You are one of the coolest people I’ve ever met, and I’m sure I’ll see you around.”

Osaka and Mouratoglou didn’t quite reach the heights they had hoped for when they teamed up. The four-time Grand Slam champion started the year strong, reaching the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland, but was forced to retire after the first set due to an abdominal injury. That same injury resurfaced at the Australian Open, where she won her first two matches before retiring once again in the first set.

In a bid to regain her form, Osaka captured the WTA 125 title at L’Open 35 de Saint Malo. However, that success didn’t carry over to Roland Garros, where she was defeated in the first round by 10th seed Paula Badosa. Most recently, the seven-time Hologic WTA Tour champion was defeated in the second round of the Mubadala Citi DC Open by Emma Raducanu.

Now, the former coach, the 55-year-old, took to social media to thank and praise Osaka, saying:

“Nothing lasts forever. What truly matters is what we’ve brought to each other and what remains after.

“After 10 months working together, we’ve decided to part ways professionally.

“I’m grateful for the trust, the journey, and everything we built.

“I’ll always be rooting for you and wish you nothing but the best.”

In the meantime, Osaka will team up with Tomasz Wiktorowski on a trial basis. Wiktorowski is well-known for coaching Agnieszka Radwanska from 2011 to 2018, guiding her to a Wimbledon final and a career-high No. 2 ranking. He also enjoyed a highly successful three-year run coaching Iga Swiatek, helping her reach No. 1 in the world. He also coached Olga Danilovic during 2019 and 2020.

Naomi Osaka will face Liudmila Samsonova in round 64 of the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers. Osaka and Samsonova have faced each other four times since 2024, with their head-to-head record standing at 2–2. Their most recent match was on June 17, at the Berlin Open, and Samsonova won the match by 3-6 , 7-6(3) , 6-4.
