Addressing the media, the 23-year-old complimented Kaja for being a good opponent and she played well. “Thank you for the support, it really got me through some tricky moments in that first set,” said the British number one.

“Kaja was playing some great tennis, was putting me on the back foot straight away.

“I thought I was being aggressive going for my shots but I was missing and not executing. At least I could say that I was trying to play on my terms so that was the goal for me.

“I don’t think I’ve ever come back from 5-0 down before so that’s a first to add to the experience.”

This was Raducanu’s second match since splitting from her coach Franciso Roig, whom she appointed in August 2025. She states that she is looking to play in a “different way”.

Before coach Emma , Roig worked with Rafael Nadal from 2005 until late 2022, helping guide Nadal through most of his 22 Grand Slam victories alongside Toni Nadal and others.

After leaving Nadal’s team he went on to coach Italian ATP star Matteo Berrettini from late 2023 until October 2024.He’s also had a short-lived coaching journey with Sloane Stephens after parting ways with Nadal.

Raducanu’s next opponent is Maja Chwalinska. Both players have never played against each other, making their head-to-head record 0–0.
