In 50 minutes, Carlos Alcaraz crushed Arthur Fils dreams of lifting the Qatar Open trophy as he defeated him 6-2, 6-1 in the final at Doha.
In the first set, Alcaraz broke Fils’ serve early and stayed in control. He served well and did not give Fils any break chances, winning the set 6-2.
In the second set, Alcaraz again broke serve early and took a fast lead.
Fils tried to fight back but could not find his rhythm. Alcaraz kept playing strong and confident tennis and finished the set 6-1 to win the title.
After the match, Carlos Alcaraz said that this year he came in hungry to win more titles while speaking to the media. “It’s been a really strong start to the year. It wasn’t easy, I had to be strong mentally with my team.
“I’m just playing great tennis and I’m really happy about this week. This trophy means a lot to me.”
Alcaraz started playing tennis at around four years old at his local club in Spain and turned professional in 2018 at just 15 years old. Since then, he has grown into one of the top players in the world, winning more than 15 ATP singles titles, including multiple Grand Slam trophies such as the US Open, Wimbledon Championships, and the French Open.
He has defeated some of the best players in the sport, including Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, proving himself as one of the best in tennis at the age of 22 years old.
Alcaraz will now be preparing to participate at the Indian Wells tournament that will start on March 4 until March 15 at the Indian Wells Tennis Carden in California. Alcaraz has won the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells) twice.
In 2023, he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final 6-3, 6-2 to claim his first Indian Wells title. In 2024, he again faced Medvedev in the final and won 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 defending his crown.
