The security situation has raised concerns about major sporting events in the country.

Golf’s Asian Tour is monitoring the situation ahead of the Saudi International, which is scheduled to take place in Riyadh next month.

Saudi Arabia is preparing to host the AFC Asian Cup for the first time in 2027, an important event ahead of the country’s planned hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Jeddah is also scheduled to host the FIFA World Cup, an international esports tournament organised by FIFA, from October 16 to 25.

The Six Kings Slam organisers released a statement on their social media platforms, which reads: “The decision reflects Riyadh Season’s commitment to delivering sporting events to the highest standards, following an assessment of the organisational and logistical challenges associated with hosting the tournament and their potential impact on the quality of the audience experience”.

The Six Kings taking part in this year’s tournament are Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur and Learner Tien. Jannik Sinner, who won the title in 2024 and 2025, will not take part this year as he is still recovering from a knee injury.
