Jack Draper sustained a knee tendon injury, which has forced him to withdraw from the French Open, and he will not be playing at the Wimbledon.
Currently ranked no 28, Draper had been in strong form and building momentum this season. The injury comes at a difficult time, ruling him out of two of the biggest events in tennis.
Posting on his Instagram account, the 24-year-old wrote,” My knee is on the mend, and I’ve started back hitting balls, but unfortunately, I have been advised not to play Roland Garros.
“As gutting as it is to miss another Slam, the advice is not to rush straight back into playing five-set tennis on clay.
“Off the back of the arm injury I sustained last year, I’ve been restricted with my training, and by giving myself the time to heal and build, I can be the player I want to be out there once again. See you soon!”
Draper returned in February after recovering mainly from a shoulder injury, along with abdominal (stomach) problems that had been affecting him.
Since his comeback, his progress has been uneven. He has managed to win around nine matches in five events. He was forced to retire from matches at the Mexican Open and the Miami Open due to physical issues.
Since making his professional debut in March 2021, Jack Draper has won one ATP title. He won that title at the 2024 Stuttgart Open, where he defeated Matteo Berrettini in the final, 3–6, 7–6, 6–4.
