Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi lauded Sandro Tonali for an “unbelievable” performance in the 2-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
Archie Gray (25′) and Jan Paul van Hecke (73′) were both on target at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Jean-Philippe Mateta saw red after just 13 minutes.
Tonali played like “two players” explained De Zerbi, who was also pleased with a number of improved performances from his struggling side.
Spurs find themselves in eighth place on the league standings with 12 points from nine games, that includes just three top-flight wins.
Speaking after a game, an upbeat Spurs manager said on Goal: “Tonali today was unbelievable, incredible. We played with two players more. Tonali was double.”
“We are improving with Gray, Robertson, the two centre-backs played very well with the demand of the game, Mateus Fernandes another very good performance,” added the Spurs boss.
“Marmoush, Solanke, did very well especially when we lost the ball. Kudus, Mathys Tel, very well, they are improving and the team is improving.
“We showed we are a mature team with clear ideas. We didn’t concede counter-attacks, maybe just one in the second half, we created many, many chances.”
“I think even before the international break, we were playing well,” he continued.
“If we compare Tottenham before the international break and Tottenham after, now we are playing as a team.”
Next up for Spurs is a trip to face Leeds United at the weekend.
