The Spain international has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid in recent months, but he says no thought has been given to his club future as he prepares for a key summer with his national team.

“I don’t know where this came from,” Rodri said when addressing rumours about his future. “I haven’t even thought about my future. My focus is on the World Cup. I’m under contract at Man City.”

Rodri, 29, also dealt with fitness concerns after a groin injury disrupted the closing stages of the season. However, he recovered in time to feature in City’s FA Cup Final victory over Chelsea.

Despite that setback, he insists he is in top physical condition heading into the tournament in the United States, crediting a lighter workload for helping him recover and prepare more effectively.

“It was the main objective this season,” he said. “I’ve had two very different years where I’ve had to adapt. You have to arrive in the best possible condition. I’m in the best physical shape I’ve ever been in.”

“It’s been an important year, a time to rediscover growth. I’m very happy with how I’ve managed the process.”

Manchester City are also entering a new chapter this summer following managerial changes at the club, with a new head coach now in place as the squad undergoes a wider rebuild alongside potential departures including Bernardo Silva and John Stones.

For now, though, Rodri remains fully focused on Spain’s international campaign, with the team set to face Cape Verde national football team on Monday before further group matches against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
