BATH
Race 2 No3 KEN BRÛLÉE
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Rob Hornby
From a stable that gave us a nice 12-1 winner of the big race at Epsom on Monday, KEN BRÛLÉE looks the way to go as a definite bet on a poor card for wagering. He posted a second triumph of the year in gritty fashion at Chepstow, and though his previous two visits to this course saw him run badly he’s improved a lot since then.
Race 7 No4 MYTHICAL BIRD (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Rob Hornby
MYTHICAL BIRD underlined her versatility with a storming finish to get up close home at Salisbury. Her trainer had a winner on Monday and though some of his team have underwhelmed this month the Nap should follow-up as the form has been boosted by the horse she beat.
NEWCASTLE
Race 3 No4 BRASH (Nap)
Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Joanna Mason
On a card of low grade fayre I’m looking at BRASH as the only betting proposition. The chestnut has delivered a string of podium finishes including a second to the well regarded Kohana Nation at Doncaster. Remaining in novice company, he can use his greater experience to telling effect.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 1 No5 SOD HALL LANE (Nap)
Trainer: Iaine Jardine – Jockey: Zak Wheatley
SOD HALL LANE gave a good account when 20-1 on his Musselburgh debut and can show by going one better that it was no fluke. He had the first and second favourite behind him despite running green, and will now be the finished article.
Race 3 No5 CLOCKER
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Oisin Orr
CLOCKER is on the hunt of a third success from her last four starts. The Time Test filly operates well in small fields as demonstrated by her convincing Ripon win earlier in the month. She relished the mile and a half trip and forged clear in the final 100 metres after digging deep into her resources. Her determination can prove a major factor as she engages with a numerically stronger opposition today.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 1 No7 CHAPMAN’S PEAK
Trainer: Ed Dunlop – Jockey: Toby Moore
CHAPMAN’S PEAK is a dual course winner who has dropped in the ratings. He gave it his all against a doughty opponent at Lingfield to show that the addition of cheek pieces has been of benefit. He has a capable apprentice taking 3lb off his back and should again be in the shake-up.
Race 2 No5 GOLD ARMY
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds
GOLD ARMY can make his experience edge count as one of the best bets of the day. His closest rivals in the betting are making their debuts, but he flew in the closing stages of his own introduction over this course and distance. He’s done well subsequently and should know too much for his foes.
Race 3 No10 SIERRA BELLE
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
Although not drawn especially well, SIERRA BELLE brings solid form to the table for this 1200 metres maiden run round a right-handed bend. She finished second to Pride Of Toledo at Salisbury and the form has worked out. She’s head and shoulders above her rivals on what she’s shown, and only needs to transfer it to the Polytrack to open her account.
Race 7 No2 MADJID (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Charlton- Jockey: Lewis Edmunds
Hat-trick seeker MADJID is hard to oppose and can send favourite backers home happy in the lucky last. Everything points to the Time Test gelding continuing his run as he’s likely to be afforded an easy lead, while even though up 6lb for his latest success here he appeared to score with the proverbial ton in hand.
