RIPON
Race 3 No2 STAR PEOPLE (Nap)
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart
STAR PEOPLE has been unlucky not to win by now and after a narrow defeat at Newcastle can deservedly go one better, with the return to grass expected to suit him.
Race 7 No7 SI WHITE
Trainer: Sir Mack Prescott – Jockey: Dylan Hogan
Hogan was on board for SI WHITE’s only success at Southwell in July. The gelding needs to turn round Lingfield placings over this trip with FEMME FATALE but aided by a first time visor can achieve it.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No7 READER
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Rob Hornby
The unexposed READER has cheek pieces added for a fillies’ maiden that can see her putting her best foot forward. The daughter of Mohaather brings the best form to the table and is going to prove hard to beat if putting behind her an underwhelming run at Chelmsford.
Race 5 No1 HOPE RISING (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Rob Hornby
The best bet of the day is HOPE RISING, who having done us numerous favours can extend her winning sequence to four. The top weight achieved her three wins by an aggregate of 48 lengths, is in great heart, and should see off the challenge of an in form open in LA PEREGRINA.
BRIGHTON
Race 1 No6 SHINING GUEST (Nap)
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
SHINING GUEST receives weight from the field on a first handicap assignment in which he should prove hard to beat. He races off the back of a career best effort when second in a classified at Yarmouth, and should respond to the strong handling of De Sousa.
Race 3 No4 SANGARA (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: George Bass
SANGARA changed hands in the bargain basement after proving no great shakes for Jack Channon. She could however improve for her change of scenery as she did too much too soon here last time. George Bass has ridden her in work and on the track, and could be the right man for the job on this lively roughie.
Race 4 No7 FITZMAURICE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
FITZMAURICE was ridden cold here last time before coming charging through to claim a minor cheque. He’s never threatened to recover his big purchase price but that effort at least shows that all hope is not lost.
Race 7 No6 DIOMED SPIRIT
Trainer: Chris Gordon – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
Osborne should prove an asset to DIOMED SPIRIT who competes off an unchanged mark for her very good run in defeat in the Summer Sprint Series Final here. That was a third good effort from the gelding in succession, who is going to be hard to beat getting weight from each of his five foes.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 No5 NUTCRACKER
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Myla Coppins
NUTCRACKER sandwiched a course win in July between two near misses and has developed a good rapport with his apprentice pilot, who is very good value for her 5lb claim. The combination are strongly fancied to get back into the winners’ enclosure back at the grey’s favoured venue.
Race 4 No5 VARIETY ACT (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott- Jockey: Luke Morris
VARIETY ACT moves up in trip after troubling the judge in each of his three AW starts last winter. He’s contesting a first handicap off a mark of 71, and could have been let in lightly.
Race 6 No7 DORALEE
Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: William Pyle
DORALEE took advantage of a class drop to pick up a classified race at Redcar which has acted as a confidence boost to the consistent mare. Back on Tapeta tonight and breaking from the favoured rail, the five-year-old can follow-up.
