“I enjoyed it,” Na said of his time on LIV. “I thought it was great. It was a great product. I think it was a part of my life which I gave my all to while I was there.

“I’m happy to move on. Excited about my next chapter.”

Na’s departure from LIV was confirmed last month, when the league announced that Byeong Hun An would take over as captain of Na’s former team. Na wasn’t named in the press release, and the reason for the split remains unclear. He last played in the PIF Saudi International in November, appearing in LIV Golf attire and mentioned in a league press release.

Two weeks after An was named captain, the PGA Tour reinstated Na’s membership following his 2022 departure, but said he would face “disciplinary action for outstanding violations of the regulations,” with a return date to be announced “when appropriate.”

In Golf Australia Magazine, Na described his approach to a PGA Tour return as cautious. “It’s one step at a time,” he said. “Obviously, the PGA Tour is an amazing place. I really enjoyed my 19-year season there, and we’ll see how it goes.”

Na played 458 PGA Tour events, winning five and earning over $37 million. On LIV Golf, he had five top-10 finishes, ending last season 44th in the standings.

This week, he accepted an invitation to the New Zealand Open, which has a 156-player field and awards a spot in the Open Championship. He didn’t reveal future plans in Golf Australia Magazine.

“I want to have some fun,” Na said. “I think sometimes we get caught up in performance and whatever other things are going on. I want to be that kid again. When you first start playing, and you travel to different parts of the world, you’re excited. Maybe when you do this for a long time, sometimes that fades away. But I know it’s still there.

“I’m really excited this week. I think I want to find that bubbly, exciting feeling again.”
