WINCANTON
Race 1 – STANLEY PINCOMBE 5/1
Molly Landau has made a promising start to her career under rules and she can use her valuable 7lb claim to guide STANLEY PINCOMBE home in the Respect In Racing Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle.
Landau partnered Chris Gordon’s seven-year-old to win over two and a half miles at Plumpton in November before he was held off by Mammies Boy last time out.
But despite the 8lb rise in the weights from that Plumpton success, Stanley Pincombe can return to the winners enclosure.
Race 3 – SABRINA 7/1
SABRINA is well placed to make it a productive day for Nicholls at his local track in the Crest Racing Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.
The nine-year-old mare was beaten seven lengths on Boxing Day but the drop in class can see her return to the winner’s enclosure at a course where she has previous winning form on soft ground.
Race 6 – DON’T TELL SU 1/5
DON’T TELL SU can break his duck over obstacles in the Blackmore Vale Hurdle 1867 ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle.
The Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old won a bumper at Chepstow last April before taking an extended break and was then sent hurdling.
He was narrowly beaten on his return in October by Minella Missile, who subsequently went on to win the Grade Two Trustatrader Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in November.
Last time out he only found Menaggio too good when blundering at the last and the drop in trip from two miles and five furlongs to a mile and seven furlongs can work in his benefit.
Race 7 – PLAISIR DES FLOS 18/10
PLAISIR DES FLOS won for the first time running five and a half lengths clear in a novices limited handicap hurdle tackling this trip at Sedgefield and has another strong chance here.
Johannes arrives here following a victory in a 2m3f novices limited handicap hurdle at Taunton. Rates highly as set to go close again with Harry Cobden on board.
Clinton Lane is another last start winner finding success at big odds contesting a Fontwell maiden hurdle and holds claims.
HEREFORD
Race 1 – EL GRANJERO 77/100
EL GRANJERO can claim his first win under rules at the fifth time of asking in the Best Odds Guaranteed At PlanetSportBet ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle.
A point to point winner in Ireland, he has finished second on all three of his races over hurdles and was only headed close home at the same course last time out. He can break that sequence and go one better.
Race 4 – CAWTHORNE BANKER 28/10
CAWTHORNE BANKER ran with credit at Taunton when a decent fifth in a two maiden hurdle.
The Jonjo O’Neill-trained six-year-old can build on that effort and will be a serious player in the Read Harry Cobden’s Blog At Planetsportbet Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.
Tour Ovalie placed third at Plumpton over tow miles before a fair fourth in a 2m3f novices hurdle at Doncaster, so should be on the shortlist.
Orbys River went well at Huntingdon finishing second among similar company over two miles earlier this month and holds claims.
Race 6 – ROCKING MAN 13/10
ROCKING MAN maintains a promising profile with a debut success by five and a half lengths on heavy ground at Chepstow preceding a smart second in a 2m jumpers flat race at that same venue tackling the same going in December.
The Sam Thomas-trained five-year-old has a strong chance in the Get Emma’s Offers At Planetsportbet Open National Hunt Flat Race.
Jurancon made a winning rules debut running 8L clear on testing ground at Chepstow before a good Newbury second in January and should be respected.
