MARKET RASEN

Race 1 – SAILED AWAY 4/1

SAILED AWAY showed plenty of ability at Huntingdon last month when second in a similar level handicap hurdle attempting the journey.

The six-year-old has been improving this season and rates a leading chance.

Captain Jack brings solid placed form at this venue including a strong runner-up effort in a course and distance novices handicap hurdle on Boxing Day.

Nimbus Boy won at Hereford tackling this trip before a decent fourth in a Wincanton handicap hurdle and holds claims along with Tip Top Tonto, who placed second contesting a Southwell novices selling hurdle.

Race 4 – BLUE BIKINI 3/1

BLUE BIKINI scored by a convincing five and a half lengths tackling a 3m1f handicap hurdle at Catterick during December. The mare won at this course last April and rates a top chance.

The main threat will come from Top Cloud who is bidding for a hat-trick following victories at Taunton and Ascot in this class.

South Terrace ran well November 2022 at Warwick when second among similar company. Market check needed on return.

Hashtag Boum placed second at Kelso attempting the journey and may feature.

Race 5 – SCENE ONE 9/2

SCENE ONE has conditions to suit in the trustatrader.com Handicap Chase.

Successful on decent ground at Fakenham in November, he was subsequently pulled up on heavy going back at that track in December.

Back on good to soft at Market Rasen last time though, Scene One bounced back to his best and looks capable of defying a 5lb rise.

Race 6 – PARK PRINCESS 9/4

Listed honours are up for grabs in the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Alan Swinbank Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race and PARK PRINCESS grabs the attention.

Anthony Honeyball’s runner was a comfortable 10-length victor on debut and while the value of that form is open to question, it cannot be disputed that Park Princess was impressive.

As a four-year-old, she gets plenty of weight from her main rivals.

TAUNTON

Race 2 – SECRET SQUIRREL 1/1

SECRET SQUIRREL‘s striking looks always take the eye but he also has the appearance of a likely winner in the second division of the Racing TV Club Day Novices’ Hurdle.

The chestnut has proved pretty smart in four runs so far for Hughie Morrison, winning two bumpers in the latter part of last season before making an excellent start over hurdles with a cosy Kempton win in November.

His five-length verdict was pretty taking but he faced a sterner test last time out in taking on Supreme hope Jeriko Du Reponet at Newbury just before the new year.

Beaten just under two lengths there, Jeriko Du Reponet has since won a Doncaster Grade Two, while the third-placed horse was a previous winner, giving the form a pleasing look.

Secret Squirrel steps up to two miles and three furlongs here which is not absolutely certain to suit, but his dam was a two-mile winner and his sire, Stimulation, has produced a Sagaro Stakes winner despite showing his best at shorter trips.

Race 3 – BENY NAHAR ROAD 11/2

The Paul Nicholls-trained BENY NAHAR ROAD will have Harry Cobden on board and the five-year-old has been running well with a Newbury novices hurdle second preceding a course and distance novice fifth in December.

Bold Reaction ran second at Doncaster attempting a 2m3f novices handicap hurdle and could go close again.

Rewired found success by 6.5L contesting a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Doncaster and makes for appeal.

Race 5 – GOLDEN ACE 63/100

GOLDEN ACE is a similarly promising type who takes the next step up the ladder in the Stables Business Park Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.

Winner of one of her three bumper starts, which also included a fair second to Dysart Enos in a Grade Two Aintree contest, Golden Ace defied unsuitably testing ground to score at the first time of asking over obstacles last month.

That looked a decent contest with the second, Lucky Place, having subsequently pushed Gidleigh Park all the way at Cheltenham, with the third-placed Insurrection had finished second at that level previously.

Golden Ace was getting a full 14lb from those rivals and will have to carry her winner’s penalty this time, but if she is to be a Festival contender, this should still be within her remit.

Race 7 – GYLLEN 7/1

GYLLEN previously proved a smart performer and now seeks a four-timer following a pair of course victories and a neck success in a higher graded 2m4f novices handicap hurdle at Sandown recently and has a top chance here.

Stanley Pincombe scored by half a length tackling this level over 2m5f at Plumpton in November and may go close again.

Commanding View narrowly found success attempting a two mile handicap hurdle at Plumpton during December. Makes for plenty of appeal.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1 – EAGLE’S REALM 1/1

EAGLE’S REALM won three times including over course and distance before a strong second in a two-mile handicap at Newcastle and has a top chance.

Crystal Guard showed plenty of ability two starts ago attempting two miles at Newcastle finishing runner-up in this class.

Send In The Clouds ran with credit last October at Brighton when fifth contesting a 1m2f handicap and should be thereabouts along with Easter Icon.

Race 4 – CRIMSOM CORONET 83/100

CRIMSON CORONET can make it third time lucky in the Bet £10 Get £40 At BetMGM Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

A promising fifth on debut late last year, she had to settle for second at Newcastle last month when bumping into a very useful odds-on debutant.

From the family of Gold Cup winner Courage Mon Ami, Crimson Coronet could have been found a nice opportunity to get that all-important win on the board.

Race 5 – BEAUZON 15/10

BEAUZON maintains excellent winning form after four victories in 2024 all coming at this venue over 6f including in this handicap grade on Saturday. The five-year-old will be a leading contender to make it five.

Gustav Graves has been running well with a course and distance handicap success preceding a Newcastle third and may go close again.

Maharajas Express holds claims after winning a track and trip handicap before a close Lingfield fifth.

Race 7 – EL HIBRI 6/1

EL HIBRI scored by two lengths attempting this handicap grade and journey at Southwell last week and has a good chance of doubling up.

Warminster brings solid placed form including a pair of runner-up efforts with a six-furlong handicap second at Newcastle preceding the same result tackling track and trip and holds every chance again.

All In The Hips found success last month at Chelmsford among this handicap company over the distance and makes for appeal.
