HUNTINGDON
Race 4 DYSART ENON 1/2
DYSART ENOS was one of the best bumper horses in the UK last season and can make a winning start over obstacles in the Rhinobet Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Trained by Fergal O’Brien, many were shocked when she turned over Queen’s Gamble in a Listed event at Market Rasen in February.
That was perhaps being a little unkind to her, though, as she had scored cosily on her debut at Ludlow by over eight lengths without being asked a question.
At Aintree in April it became apparent the task facing Queen’s Gamble was a considerable one as not only did Dysart Enos prove herself to be the best bumper mare in Britain, she beat horses trained by Willie Mullins, Henry de Bromhead and Gordon Elliott.
And she did not just win, she cruised to victory by an eased-down nine lengths, looking exceptional in the process. With a clear round she should have far too many guns for her rivals on her hurdling bow.
Race 6 – LIVERPOOL KNIGHT 11/2
Olly Murphy’s LIVERPOOL KNIGHT won a valuable prize at Market Rasen in September and off just 4lb higher should take the beating in the Rhinobet Michaelmas Handicap Hurdle.
Formerly a useful performer on the Flat for a few different trainers, the son of Golden Horn has won three of his last five starts over hurdles and appears to be on an upward curve.
LINGFIELD
Race 2 – KLITSCHKO 7/4
Also of real interest at Lingfield is Alan King’s KLITSCHKO in the John & Paddy Sheehan Memorial Handicap Hurdle.
Owned by JP McManus, the five-year-old took three attempts to get off the mark over timber last term, but that means he now races off a rating that could underestimate his true ability.
Returning with an initial handicap mark of 120, there is a real chance this lightly-raced hurdler could fly through the ranks this term.
Race 5 – BRANDISOVA 7/4
BRANDISOVA ended previous campaign with two wins from three attempts. Not always at her best following a spell but this won’t take much winning.
Captain Claude has been in excellent form since scoring at Fontwell and could prove dangerous if taking to fences.
Bobalot received a break and a wind operation after finishing fifth at Ffos Las. This could be a winnable looking race on chase debut.
Experienced chaser Dysania appears to be well treated at the weights and has place claims.
Race 6 – BURROWS PARK 6/4
With the Venetia Williams string hitting top gear earlier than normal this season, the 11-year-old BURROWS PARK is of interest in the Sharon Knapp Memorial Cup Handicap Hurdle.
Williams normally needs to wait for the ground to turn soft in the middle of winter before really hitting top gear, but the exceptionally wet weather of late has meant she is having far more runners than is usually the case at this stage of the campaign.
Burrows Park finished fourth on his seasonal reappearance at Plumpton but he will be more at home on this softer ground.
Race 7 – GOLD CLERMONT 8/1
GOLD CLERMONT can strike returning to the track and is the one to beat after two wins and a second in her last four outings.
Shewearsthewellies won at Fontwell on penultimate start and followed up with a second, so rates the chief threat.
Kenny George resumed with a third placed effort at Stratford and is sure to strike soon.
Emotional Memories disappointed at Uttoxeter after previously making the frame. Holds ability to secure a place.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 – SECOND COLLECTION 9/2
SECOND COLLECTION indicated plenty of ability here when a neck second in a course and distance handicap. Remains in the same grade and rates a leading chance.
Gustav Graves ran with credit contesting a track and trip handicap finishing fifth among this company, so should be on the shortlist.
Fristel produced a close fourth attempting this handicap grade tackling 6f at Lingfield last week and will be in the mix.
Race 2 – REPRISED 6/4
REPRISED is rated the best bet at Wolverhampton in the Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM EBF Novice Stakes.
Karl Burke’s Blue Point filly has shaped with promise in each of her two starts to date and can make it third time lucky in the capable hands of Billy Loughnane.
Race 6 – MASTER OF COMBAT 5/2
MASTER OF COMBAT bids for a hat-trick following a pair of course wins including tackling track and trip last month. Back up in standard and rates highly.
Tiger Beetle found success by two and a half lengths contesting a lower graded course and distance handicap. Could go close if replicating form.
Barley, who showed plenty of ability at Newcastle when second among this handicap company, Tarbaan, who won at Yarmouth in this grade two runs ago, may feature.
Race 9 – CORNISH STORM 2/1
CORNISH STORM scored by a comfortable three and a half lengths at Kempton tackling this trip and handicap level in September. Leading contender set to to follow up that maiden success.
Global Tycoon won a course and distance handicap in this grade and will be the main danger.
Bear Claws ran well here when second attempting a 1m6f handicap last week, so likely to get in the mix, along with Virtual Hug.
