PLUMPTON
Race 2 – CHANCE A TUNE 13/8
CHANCE A TUNE was impressive when breaking his duck over fences at the second attempt at Hereford last week and a 7lb penalty may not stop him securing a quick double in the Dean Wilson LLP Handicap Chase.
A decent sort over hurdles, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding looks like making up into an even better horse over the larger obstacles, judged on his comfortable recent success.
At the age of nine, Chance A Tune is no spring chicken, but there should be more improvement to come in this discipline.
Race 3 – I’M A STARMAN 11/2
I’M A STARMAN looks like he could add to his tally of Plumpton wins in the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle.
He was beaten at Ascot convincingly on his last outing, but won at this course-and-distance the time before.
He is guarenteed to handle the conditions and remains feasibly weighted so should extend his Plumpton winning streak.
Race 4 – CLASSIC LORD 4/1
CLASSIC LORD can get back on the winning trail in the Howden Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton.
Bought out of Henry de Bromhead’s yard in spring last year for £29,000, the six-year-old has made a fine start for Tim Vaughan this season, winning twice and being placed twice from six attempts.
He proved when scoring at both Fontwell and Bangor that heavy ground holds no fears for him and he ran a commendable race in defeat when filling the runner-up spot on his most recent outing at Sandown.
A drop back in distance does not look a hindrance and Classic Lord should prove hard to beat for his in-form trainer.
Race 5 – PUDDLESINTHEPARK 9/4
Despite remaining unexposed to fences, PUDDLESINTHEPARK looks he could be a contender in the Williamhill 5 Free Bet For Cheltenham Handicap Chase.
His effort at Southwell last time out was encouraging as he finished third after an 82-day break.
He is 2.2 lb lower this time out so he certainly is an appealing prospect.
