TAUNTON

Race 2 No1 KHAFRE (Nap)
Trainer: Syd Hosie – Jockey: Paddy Hanlon

KHAFRE did us a good turn when opening his account over this course and distance and might have been handed a fair mark for his first run in a handicap under a rider who is good value for his claim. The Nap faces an interesting opponent in WOLF WALKER who takes a step back on the class ladder.

Race 6 No6 PRAIRIE QUEEN
Trainer: Sue Gardner – Jockey: Sean Houlihan

PRAIRIE QUEEN has regularly troubled the judge over hurdles this season and in receipt of weight from her field is very interesting on this switch to fences. She will get good assistance from the saddle, and if taking to the fences can prove hard to beat.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No5 FERANDO
Trainer: Barry Murphy – Jockey: Tom Cannon

FERANDO performed better than his finishing position indicates as a first runner for his trainer when fifth at Ffos Las. He travelled and jumped well until getting tired, and will have learned something. He’s carded to start as a roughie in this low grade affair, and if near that price is of definite interest.

Race 5 No1 HILLBERRY HILL (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

HILLBERRY HILL brings winning form from Ireland to the table in this race that’s cut up in his favour. He carries a 7lb penalty for that Thurles triumph but is a horse with potential who can make the perfect start with a win for his new connections.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 4 No3 ROYAL STANDARD (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Hector Crouch

ROYAL STANDARD proved easy to back on both outings last season but showed ability, especially when fourth on his final start at Yarmouth when he was doing all his best work at the finish. He’s strengthened up through the winter and can cause problems for paper favourite MONTEVETRO.

Race 5 No8 OPTIMISTIC
Trainer: Derek Shaw – Jockey: Darragh Keenan

For the first time in five career starts OPTIMISTIC attracted some interest in the market, finishing second over this course and distance at the beginning of the month. He’s well drawn for this bottom grade sprint and should go close if finding just a little more progression.

Race 8 No3 TIME TO TAKE OFF
Trainer: James Tate – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Starman filly TIME TO TAKE OFF delivered on her only start in a back end maiden at Nottingham. She’s developed physically and though up against a couple of foes with similar claims, she can remain unbeaten.

Race 9 No5 PANAMA BLACK
Trainer: Brian Meehan – Jockey: Joe Leavy

PANAMA BLACK looked like a horse getting ready to win when third at Southwell at the end of last month. He brings solid claims to the table as the sole runner from his stable at the meeting.
