PONTEFRACT

Race 4 No8 MOUNT KING
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

MOUNT KING loves the stiff uphill finish and on seasonal reappearance has a good chance of adding to his three previous successes over the 1600 metres distance here. He’s a strong travelling horse who is ready for this first outing of 2026.

Race 6 No1 TREASURE ISLANDS (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

TREASURE ISLANDS was a 50-1 shot when troubling the judge on his return to action at Southwell. That first outing on sand earned him a handicap mark which he can now exploit in this weakly contested affair to gain a first career win.

Race 7 No8 PROUD MARY (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

Mattmu filly PROUD MARY is carded to start at a big double figure price on her handicap bow but an earning run isn’t out of the question as she will be more in her comfort zone while she is perfectly drawn to get competitive.

EXETER

Race 1 No13 ALDERLEY CHARLIE (Each Way)
Trainer: Polly Gundry – Jockey: Tabitha Worsley

ALDERLEY CHARLIE has only twice completed the course in ten career starts and they were over hurdles. The six-year-old will therefore start at a massive price, but having shown a glimmer of ability before being pulled up when he couldn’t breathe at this course he could now do better with the addition of a first time tongue tie.

Race 3 No3 WESTERN CROSS
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Sean Houlihan

WESTERN CROSS is up against a strongly fancied recent winner in ARNIE MOON but rates a value bet to topple him. My selection has twice defied the odds to get into the money as a 66-1 and 40-1 shot. He ran very well in a first time hood in a far better race here last time, and if near his paper price today is well worth backing.

Race 4 No2 HORETHORNE
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Freddie Gingell

The Tizzard’s like to unveil their nicer bumper horses at this course which points to HORETHORNE taking out this junior bumper. The Geordieland gelding faces just five opponents in a contest that’s cut up favourably for him.

Race 5 No8 PRAIRIE QUEEN
Trainer: Sue Gardner – Jockey: Sean Houlihan

PRAIRIE QUEEN jumped well on her first run over fences at Taunton last week. While ultimately no match for Bobbi’s Beauty, she will benefit from racing over this more galloping track, and appeals as one of the better bets on a quiet day.

Race 7 a No3 MACKLIN (Nap)
Trainer: Will Biddick – Jockey: Mr Josh Newman

MACKLIN impressed in first time cheek pieces here last month when readily asserting over the final couple of fences. That took his record to two out of three in the hunter-chase division. It also proved his liking for this course, and stamps him as one to follow through the Spring for a top outfit.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No9 SEAPEARL (Each Way)
Trainer: Oliver Cole – Jockey: Edward Greatrex

Calyx filly SEAPEARL is a well related individual for whom a move into handicap company should see her in a better light. She brings three duck eggs to the party but has fared very well with the draw. An improved performance is on the cards.

Race 3 No5 MAGICAL MERLOT (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Dunlop – Jockey: Hector Crouch

MAGICAL MERLOT ran consistently well in four juvenile starts and was well backed when opening his account in a back end novice at Brighton. His stable is going well with its AW runners, and he’s the type to carry on rewarding his connections now switched to handicaps.
