DONCASTER

Race 3 No4 PACKETOFBISCUITS (Each Way)
Trainer: John Mackie – Jockey: PJ McDonald

Mackie has done well with PACKETOFBISCUITS since taking charge of the blinkered four-year-old. The selection was beaten in a photo over 1400 metres at Southwell last time, and over the same trip can show improvement with a switch to grass.

Race 6 No3 SIAM RUBY (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Australia filly SIAM RUBY impressed me with her Lingfield success when starting at odds-on. It is a good foundation for her to build from, and against a shorter priced rival in Morbeh she looks the way to go in terms of value.

Race 8 No7 CHARLIE MASON (Each Way)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

CHARLIE MASON is another good ride in Rossa Ryan’s book. He’s been a regular earner on the all-weather and should enjoy a return to turf especially as he has good form with some juice in the ground. He has the right man in his saddle to put in another earning run.

ASCOT

Race 2 No3 SHERBORNE (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Freddie Gingell

SHERBORNE came home unchallenged after a very accomplished round of jumping at Exeter. It was just reward for a strong of near misses, and with his confidence levels on a high he can defy a 7lb rise.

Race 3 No5 TALAKAN
Trainer: Toby Lawes – Jockey: Kevin Brogan

TALAKAN was useful in France and ran against older horses when second in a Warwick novice hurdle last time. He brings good form to the table back against four-year-olds, and should give another good account.

Race 5 No2 HARD DEALT
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

HARD DEALT attracted on course support at Haydock but in the end had to succumb to Heather Honey as the pair pulled clear. She’s moving up in trip today, and though 3lb higher for getting beaten should prove hard to beat.

Race 6 No2 CERTANLY RED
Trainer: Lydia Richards – Jockey: Marc Goldstein

Veteran CERTANLY RED was returning from a lengthy absence when chasing home an upwardly mobile foe at Sandown. A bad mistake didn’t help his cause but this looks a more straightforward task for the 12-year-old who can roll back the years.
