NEWBURY
Race 1 No2 LISBANE PARK (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Harry Cobden
LISBANE PARK has earned in each of his four outings under Rules and is essentially an embryonic chaser for next season. Although rolled over when odds on for his latest start at Exeter he can bounce back on better ground that should assist him.
Race 3 No7 AUTHORISED SPEED (Each Way)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Caolin Quinn
Not many horses can defy and absence of more than two years but AUTHORISED SPEED is worth a speculative bet to achieve it. The one time smart novice hurdler has slipped to a dangerous mark as a chaser and started favourite on three of the four occasions he raced over fences, only to fall twice. It leaves a possibility that he’s gone under the radar.
Race 4 No1 CHARISMA CAT (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy
Plenty of the contenders for this Grade 2 limited handicap hurdle go to post on the back of good runs in victory and defeat, including. CHARISMA CAT. She includes three seconds on her CV as a hurdler including when chasing home Khrisma at Market Rasen. It was a solid effort and if repeated makes her a leading light to take away a cheque.
Race 6 No3 PALACIO
Trainer: Sam Thomas – Jockey: Dylan Johnston
This stable could do with a winner and it can arrive via PALACIO. Forcing tactics ideally suit the gelding who was making headway when his rider lost an iron and was unseated at halfway on his latest start here. The combination need to be in attacking mode if they are to take the spoils, but in the small field they can lead.
BANGOR-ON-DEE
Race 5 No2 AURIGNY MILL (Nap)
Trainer: Robert Walford – Jockey: Harry Kimber
AURIGNY MILL popped up unexpectedly at Taunton when coming home unchallenged in heavy ground. However his best form has happened on goo to soft or good ground which suggests he’s going to be more effective on today’s surface.
Race 7 No10 ERIC CARMEN
Trainer: Gary Hanmer – Jockey: Benjamin Macey
ERIC CARMEN is enjoying a bountiful year and might have done better than finishing second on his recent start at Leicester had he not jumped out to the left. He’s getting a nice weight concession from his opponents and the trait should benefit him on this left handed course.
KELSO
Race 3 No1 KHRISMA
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville
KHRISMA has to concede upwards of a stone to her foes in this mares’ final but is more than capable of achieving it. The former French-based mare has won on two of five starts out of Seven Barrows and could hardly have been more impressive in accounting for the smart Charisma Cat at Market Rasen. She’s an upwardly mobile individual for whom further success awaits in the colours of JP McManus.
Race 4 No3 GLEN ROAD (Nap)
Trainer: Sue Smith – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
GLEN ROAD disappointed on his first couple of forays over fences but his latest second behind Soldierofthestorm at Sandown was much more like it. He was up against a very well treated opponent on that occasion, and will be unlucky of anything of that ilk is lurking today.
Race 5 No2 FORTUNATE MAN
Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr
FORTUNATE MAN was a late scratch from his race earlier in the week. It might have been because this contest looked more attractive, and it’s certainly cut up in his favour. The O’Neill stable could hardly be in better form.
SOUTHWELL
Race 2 No2 HERETIC (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey:
HERETIC looked sure to be involved over this course and distance at the start of the month only to fade in the final strides. It was step in the right direction by the seven-year-old, who is on the way back and can sniff victory in this race round a lap of the track.
Race 6 No3 MISS ATTITUDE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rob Hornby
Hornby guided MISS ATTITUDE to her biggest success at last year’s Deauville Festival. He’s back in the hot seat on this powerfully framed mare who benefits from his sympathetic handling from off the pace.
NEWCASTLE
Race 8 No8 TOMORROW DAY (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Jude Fernandez
TOMORROW DAY has carded all five of his five career successes at this course. After a second breathing operation he’s indicated with two near misses that he’s on the cusp of a return to winning ways, and is in a good part of the gate to make it third time lucky.
