LUDLOW

Race 1 No7 SCARLET MOON

Trainer: Archie Watson – Jockey: Benjamin Poste

Anyone of four can win this novices’ hurdle but SCARLET MOON is the most likely to give his best form, and a horse that deserves a change of luck. He’s run into some well regarded foes since scoring at Warwick, and could be gifted an easy time of things if his jockey wishes to lead.

Race 4 No2 THE KALOOKI KID (Nap)

Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

Northern raider THE KALOOKI KID hasn’t been at his best in three starts this season but this is the time of year to catch him. He has more scope for progression than anything in the field, while this course should play to his strengths. He’s been waiting for the better ground and could be one to follow in the coming weeks.

Race 6 No1 JET PLANE

Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Miss Heidi Palin

JET PLANE has in a sense proved costly to follow, as the Leicester winner has started short in each of his three subsequent outings without adding to his laurels. It should prove a different scenario today however, even though multiple point winner GREAT VALLEY is a very interesting opponent.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No5 PLAID (Nap)

Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

This interesting affair should be fought out by previous winners ART GALLERY and PLAID, with the last named filly just preferred. The daughter of Ghaiyyath delivered over the course and distance and looks to have been given a real chance to build on it as she embarks on a handicap assignment for the first time. Her stable is going through a hot streak with its AW winners.

Race 7 No9 PRIVATE PROJECT (Each Way)

Trainer: Pat Phelan – Jockey: Darragh Keenan

At a chunky price I think PRIVATE PROJECT is worth supporting. The Churchill filly is versatile in terms of trip and been dropped 2lb for a career best run on her latest outing at Lingfield. This mile and a half should be within her stamina compass.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 6 No7 NUTCRACKER (Each Way)

Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: William Carson

NUTCRACKER has proved easy to back in each of his ten career starts, starting at prices ranging from 12-1 to 250-1. However, after troubling the judge with a prominent showing throughout on his latest start, he could prove more popular. This is his first real chance of success, and he can get into the shake-up.

Race 7 No9 ARCLECCHINO’S REX (Nap)

Trainer: Mark Usher- Jockey: Jason Watson

ARLECCHINO’S REX fits the bill in every way save for being drawn wider than ideal. He has a good record at the track with figures of 34513 in 2026, and would surely have done better last time had his jockey charted a middle course rather than take a gap on the inside, where it’s very hard to win from. Granted better luck in running he can bounce back.
