DARK HORSES LATEST

SECRET SNIPER Huntingdon, March 18th

The flashy SECRET SNIPER upped his game in this novices’ hurdle to chase home a long odds on foe with the remainder well behind. The brother to Secret Squirrel travelled and jumped well, and looks one to follow through the spring and on better ground.

KINGDOM OF STARS Hereford, March 19th

Formerly useful on the Flat, KINGDOM OF STARS looks to be learning the rudiments of jumping hurdles. He was ridden from well off the pace and after closing to briefly look like taking a hand was looked after when his chance had gone. This was his best run over jumps, and he can pick up a novices’ handicap for a stable amongst the winners.

NAB WOOD Uttoxeter, March 14th

NAB WOOD did not enjoy the luxury of racing real estate in this very competitive handicap hurdle. He also made a mistake when launching his run, but nevertheless finished as well as anything in fourth. He likes to get his feet into the ground, meaning his trainer will only selectively run him between now and the end of the season. He’s got it in him to land a decent pot.

INTHEPOCKET Cheltenham, March

INTHEPOCKET had the look of a plot in this Grand Annual Challenge Cup and he was still travelling with petrol in the tank when falling at the second-last. While he wouldn’t have won, he’s clearly a well treated individual who in the colours of JP McManus should soon gain compensation for this defeat. There had been plenty of support for him in the ante post market, and those losses can be shown to be merely lent.

QUICK TURN Southwell, March 4th

QUICK TURN is a name to conjure with on the all-weather as he was unlucky not to get a lot closer in this bottom level handicap. He looked full of running when badly hampered when being switched over a furlong out and can do better for a trainer that knows the time of day.
