LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No7 SAWGRASS
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Probert
A gradual step up the distance ladder has brought about some improvement in SAWGRASS, as well as a move onto the grass. The Gleneagles filly has placed on her last two outings when starting favourite at Brighton and Beverley, and now sets her sights on the mile and three quarters trip. With just a tad more progress she can open her account, as her family liked a bit of juice in the ground which is what’s on offer.
Race 4 No8 SINJ (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Joe Leavy
The beautifully named SINJ skipped a good opening to wait for this and the tip should be taken about the daughter of Too Darn Hot. She’s earned on both career starts at Chepstow, while her high draw isn’t a disadvantage on the straight course as opposed to the all weather track here.
Race 6 No5 DARK SUN (Each Way)
Trainer: James Bennett – Jockey: Laura Coughlan
A speculative advice in this weak sprint is DARK SUN. The Dark Angel filly was having just a fourth career start when finishing in the ruck at Windsor two weeks ago but will be sharper for this second start for her trainer, having been purchased out of the bargain basement from a leading Newmarket stable.
YARMOUTH
Race 2 No1 ESTRELLA DIVINA ( Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
As an unraced four-year-old ESTRELLA DIVINA could be classed as a risky proposition but this powerfully built individual should not be underestimated. She’s well regarded at West Ilsley, has had a very experienced work rider educating her at home, and could make it a winning if belated start to her career.
Race 6 No7 BANKSMAN (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
The flashy BANKSMAN went down in a photo following a big market drift on his latest start and looks to have been found at least as good an opportunity to open his account for a stable whose horses are running well generally.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 6 No9 FRENCH HAVEN (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning
FRENCH HAVEN appeals as a bet from a yard still reeling from its near miss in Saturday’s Derby. The Le Havre filly opened her account at Newmarket and then looked unlucky not to follow up at Nottingham where she missed the break. She’s very much on the improve, and will be hard to stop.
KEMPTON PARK
Race2 No4 INCLUSIVE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
Home bred INCLUSIVE is one to monitor for market support in this interesting fillies’ maiden, as she’s by Showcasing out of a useful Cheveley Park mare and could be ready to deliver at the first time of asking. The race has cut up, with Godolphin’s Miss Honey the likely main barrier to success to my selection.
Race 3 No4 CLOAKS OF GOLD (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Sean Levey
CLOAKS OF GOLD has the points on the board in terms of experience although her third placing in a small field on first start at Salisbury is hard to evaluate. While it’s sorry that she was twice operated on for a wind problem before she ever ran, she’s bred to be smart, and can definitely improve,
