LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No8 CHARLIE MASON (Nap)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Gina Mangan

CHARLIE MASON attracted abundant support but got going too late against Em Four at Chelmsford last week. After an early bump he swung wide into the straight and ran out of real estate in his bid to overhaul the winner. Without saying he should have prevailed it would not be a surprise were he to win this under a different jockey.

Race 4 No4 ROMAN QUEST (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson

LISA JOY and SPACE INVASION will command a lot of respect in the betting, but at a huge price ROMAN QUEST could raise his game. The Camelot colt proved very easy to back when sixth to Sassicaia at Wolverhampton but showed good all round pace before weakening in the final furlong. Taking on board that this third outing will qualify him for handicaps it can only be a speculative bet, however.

Race 7 No7 ALSHIMALI
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: William Carson

ALSHIMALI remains unexposed on sand, with tonight’s race being only his fourth on an AW surface since the spring. While yet to win on it he signalled with a good run here last week behind All Too Beautiful that he’s likely to soon change that statistic, and it could easily happen in this race.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No10 GUNDOGAN (Nap)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Matthew Slater

Since his arrival with Carroll in the autumn, GUNDOGAN has put in three solid enough performances including when staying on well at the business end after missing the break at Lingfield a month ago. His trainer has now had more time to get to know the Territories gelding who gets weight from everything in the race.

Race 4 No7 THE LOST KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Nicola Currie

On his return from a more than 200 day absence THE LOST KING brings untapped potential to the table. After an early career win at Newmarket the Kingman gelding failed to menace in a Listed race but followed that with a podium finish in a Class2 at Sandown. When last seen in the Britannia at Royal Ascot he led his group for much of the contest and has to be of interest back in calmer waters and onto the Polytrack, on which he’s moved well at home.

Race 7 No5 VOIX DE BOCELLI
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Donagh Murphy

VOIX DE BOCELLI is proving a good all rounder for his jumps biased trainer, and though having run poorly on two past visits to this track is in the mood to put another on the board, something advertised by his strong finish to make the frame at Lingfield before Christmas.
