CARLISLE

Race 2 No3 BLEEP TEST
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

BLEEP TEST was only denied in the final couple of strides by a much vaunted newcomer at Pontefract and would be of serious interest if turning out again quickly. The daughter of Time Test is taking her race well, and has shown her liking for a stiff course, as Carlisle certainly is.

Race 3 No7 HOT CASH (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

This can go to HOT CASH, who is the first of a quartet of challengers from Channon’s West Ilsley yard. Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the Too Darn Hot colt so far this season, as he was not given the best of rides at Wolverhampton and then did too much in the early stages of his handicap bow over a mile and a quarter at Sandown. Only when pulled back to a mile did he show his real ability, battling all the way to the line against Organ at Haydock. He’s been in great form since that effort, and should enjoy this track, the trip and the ground.

Race 4 No6 SAQQARA SANDS (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Verse Of Love bounced back from a poor run at Newmarket to smoothly land the odds laid on her in a class drop at Yarmouth. The one time Classic prospect will be hard to beat, but I feel SAQQARA SANDS can take her measure. The Nap did all her best work at the finish in a Listed race at Epsom to show that not only has she trained on, but also that she is ready to contend for more than just black type through the remainder of the season, and she is a filly to follow.

Race 5 No1 GALYX
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

GALYX has failed to menace in two outings so far this season but they have served to make him fitter. In reality this Cumberland Plate is his first proper mission of the campaign, and he’s fancied to go well. The track is going to play to his strengths, while the mile and a half trip should suffice as long as they go a decent clip. He’s one that could do better the further he travels, in races such as the totesport Ebor at York in August.

Race 6 No5 ARKHALIA FLYNN
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Having skipped a couple of intended races owing to unsuitable ground, ARKHALIA FLYNN can earn in the historic Carlisle Bell. There’s going to be juice in the ground for sure, something that enables the Ulysses gelding to use his turn of foot to best advantage at the business end of his races. After a near miss three weeks ago he’s on his mettle for this.

Race 7 No5 ORANGESANDLEMONS (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

ORANGESANDLEMONS finished second on five occasions whilst scoring at Southwell and finishing second on her first run back at this track. The was a first run in handicap company for the Mayson filly, who now makes just a second start on grass, a surface on which she can improve.

SALISBURY

Race 1 No3 LABICHE
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Trevor Whelan

There’s no evidence to go on in the opener as far as public form is concerned, but a market check is advised on LABICHE, who has a nice blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree, and whose owners have enjoyed abundant success with the Candy stable.

Race 4 No3 DARK THIRTY
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Sean Levey

Having hit the woodwork in a Class2 at York this is a good opening for DARK THIRTY who has been put up just a pound, and who should prove too pacey for hat-trick seeking Montpellier.

Race 7 No6 MANILA THRILLER (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rob Hornby

MANILA THRILLER underwhelmed when back in handicap company at Newbury leaving her connections perplexed about the reason why. She is far better than she showed, having gone well in Listed company on her previous start. She appears to have thrived physically in the ensuing fortnight, and it would not be a surprise to see her bounce back as a bet worth waiting for.

WORCESTER

Race 3 No1 I’M A BELIEVER (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Mr Toby McCain-Mitchell

I’M A BELIEVER has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for his Market Rasen win, but considering how green he was on that occasion the gelding can remain in the winning groove as a worthy favourite.

Race 5 No3 SEYMOURJOHN
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor

Scorpion gelding SEYMOURJOHN could prove the value play on his first outing with his tongue tied down. He showed plenty of ability last season, and in the belief he can carry on from where he left off is worth backing.

Race 6 No5 BRINDLEY
Trainer: Patrick Neville – Jockey: Brian Hughes

BRINDLEY is going through a sequence of troubling the judge without winning, but this could be his best chance yet, and he will get very good assistance from the saddle.

BATH

Race 1 No2 FANCY DANCER (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: S D Bowen

Dandy Man filly FANCY DANCER is drawn eleven of 11 which may or may not be the best place to be. However, there’s rain in an unsettled forecast, and if that reaches the Avon course it will be to the favour of the selection, who should also handle switching to turf.

Race 6 No5 LAUNCESTON
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

Australia gelding LAUNCESTON has in five outings never started less than 25-1 and as big as 250-1. That might in part be due to the fact he was racing over distances that were not suited to his staying pedigree, and on a belated return to action he can show that he’s far happier competing over a mile and a quarter.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No11 SANGARA (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass

SANGARA was easy to back and failed to menace on each of her three outings last year, but she’s improved in her work through the close season, and has always looked the type that would fare better in handicaps.

Race 5 No1 DUBAI BEACH (Nap)
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

DUBAI BEACH is the go to horse in this first division of the mile handicap and in a good place to complete a hat-trick. The Blue Point filly is making just a sixth appearance on the racecourse and is a winner over track and trip. She landed some good bets at Chelmsford last time, and probably hadn’t stopped improving.
