GOODWOOD

Race 1 No2 ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

This looks nicely set up for ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT to gain an overdue success for a stable that can’t put a foot wrong. He’s taking a drop in class for a race that’s cut up, giving him the chance to dominate on softened ground that will play to his strengths. With Murphy in the irons he can make it a first success since his debut last year.

Race 4 No3 CHECKANDCHALLENGE (Each Way)
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa

Juice in the ground is the key to CHECKANDCHALLENGE who although being one of the first to be ridden, finished off his race as strongly as anything when picking up a minor cheque at Newbury. De Sousa looks the right man to get him rolling in the straight, and to come through and earn when some of his foes have cried enough.

Race 5 No3 WETSAND
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Sam James

WETSAND is relatively inexperienced but the Acclamation filly has delivered on two of her three starts which makes her a player in an open contest. Her trainer has both his Flat and jumps teams performing at a high level.

REDCAR

Race 2 No11 BLAZING (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Clifford Lee

One that takes the eye in the nursery is BLAZING, for whom Lee is an interesting booking. The son of Mayson has troubled the judge on three of four starts with his chances helped by the addition of cheek pieces

Race 4 No3 MELVIN UDALL (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan

MELVIN UDALL has points on the board and put in a career best when second on a first outing for the yard at Beverley. The money that followed him on that occasion can be recouped with interest in a race that’s cut up in his favour.

Race 8 No7 GOOD KARMA
Trainer: John Riches – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

GOOD KARMA enjoyed switching back to turf when fourth at Catterick earlier in the month. He’s possibly best ridden on the pace, and should that happen he can can grab a podium place in this bottom level 1400 metres handicap.

PERTH

Race 1 No9 WANDERING EGO (Nap)
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

The Murphy/Bowen combination rarely leave this fixture empty handed, and can start it with a bang through WANDERING EGO in this novices’ hurdle. The Nap faces strong competition from Gordon Elliott’s Eternal Echo, but looked useful in disposing of his bumper rivals by a wide margin at Wetherby. He’s schooled well and can give his trainer a second success in this race in as many years.

Race 2 No9 FOLLOW CHARLIE
Trainer: R Smith – Jockey: Nathan Moscrop

In winning form when last seen over course and distance in May, FOLLOW CHARLIE could be named the winner some way out, as well as proving effective over the two and a half mile trip. He doesn’t take too much getting ready, and on a mark just 1lb more than that he won off has to be given a big win and place chance.

Race 5 No5 PESCATORIOUS
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

PESCATORIOUS put his best work in late at Fontwell last month to claim a minor cheque. He’s up against some consistent performers, but the addition of blinkers could make the difference.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No10 MOAB ( Each Way)
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Finley Marsh

From a stable that has done well with its runners on the Flat this summer, MOAB should go well. He attracted a bundle of support when beaten into third at Ffos Las but that in itself was an improved effort, making him spot on for today’s assignment and with a strong jockey in his irons.

Race 5 No7 BAIKAL (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

BAIKAL has far less miles n his racing clock than her opponents, but that’s a good reason to side with her in the best race of the night. The More Than Ready filly went up 6lb for opening her account on handicap debut at Wolverhampton, but has further progression in her, and will operate just as well over the longer trip.
