BATH
Race 2 No4 U S S CHARLESTON (Nap)
Trainer: Lemos Souza – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
De Sousa is enjoying a good run of form and can put another one on the board by steering U S S CHARLESTON home in this restricted maiden. The U S Navy Flag colt made a significant step up when second at Leicester, and if making normal further progression should open his account.
Race 4 No1 CHERRY COLA
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Rose Dawes
If this four runner contest turns into a tactical affair CHERRY COLA is the one that can benefit. She’s getting closer to another success with every run, and having scored over course and distance put in a seasonal best when second at Lingfield. The drop back in trip will not be an issue, and her pilot is very adept when making the running, as she may well do.
UTTOXETER
Race 1 No8 SIDE STEPPER (Nap)
Trainer: Christian Williams – Jockey: Jack Tudor
SIDE STEPPER looks much the best of his trainer’s two runners in this marathon at a track where he has already tasted victory. That happened with the aid of a tongue tie, and while he was soundly beaten on his latest start he was compromised by being taken on for the lead.
Race 4 No8 CROWN OF INDIA
Trainer: Alex Hales – Jockey: Kielan Woods
CROWN OF INDIA was a regular earner on the Flat and has adopted an almost identical pattern in his races over hurdles for his new trainer, with a success at Worcester last time teeing him up nicely for this first handicap assignment. He looks the ne most likely to pose problems to paper favourite Soleil D’arizona.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 3 No7 ROSE OF SPAIN (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hughes – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
Hughes is doing especially well with the horses he trains for Jaber Abdullah, and here’s another opportunity for the trainer to showcase his skills with ROSE OF SPAIN. She was backed as if defeat was out of the question only to be turned over at 4-11 at Wolverhampton, but will be a lot more streetwise.
Race 5 No6 DOTHAN
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
From a plum draw DOTHAN can return to winning ways. While failing to go on from his Doncaster win on seasonal reappearance the gelding has faced a couple of stiff tasks, but this looks more straightforward.
FFOS LAS
Race 1 No3 FIRST TIME
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Trevor Whelan
Mohaather colt FIRST TIME was friendless before belying his 66-1 odds to finish second at Salisbury four weeks ago. His trainer has a good record with horses of his ilk at this track, and as the undoubted form pick he should prove hard to beat.
Race 2 No5 RAVEENA
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert
RAVEENA is a very well related individual who has been a work in progress owing to some minor training issues. This is her first outing in well over a year, and only her second all told, but she’s well regarded by her trainer and it might be worth making a speculative wager on her. The standard of her work suggests a good chunk of her original ability remains.
Race 4 No4 ADRIAN
Trainer: Bernard Llewellyn – Jockey: Aidan Keeley
In a race that has cut up ADRIAN can benefit. The grey put in a seasonal best here at the end of last month and can take advantage of an 11lb weight concession from odds-on Beggarman.
Race 5 No3 WHATSGOINGONMARVIN (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris
Hat-trick seeker WHATSGOININGONMARVIN makes a quick reappearance after his snug success at Chester where he landed some good bets, confirming in the process his appreciation for a big step up in trip. He faces a dangerous opponent in Respiro Solitario who looks a gilt a edged pick for the other side of the exacta.
YARMOUTH
Race 2 No5 SCHRODINGER’S CAT (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Unless newcomer Desert Treasure is above average and ready for this, SCHRODINGER’S CAT should do the business. The Ardad colt has hit the crossbar on visits to Nottingham and Windsor and this is his easiest opportunity so far.
Race 5 No4 WANNABEAWALLABY
Trainer: Dylan Cunha – Jockey: Kyle Strydom
From a stable amongst the winners WANNABEAWALLABY can post an overdue first career triumph. He’s been popular in the market on each of his last four outings, and might not have appreciated the tight turns when out of the money at Catterick last week. He’s had a few chances, but this is a chance to recoup some of those recent losses.
Race 6 No5 STARDANCER
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Finley Marsh
STARDANCER does not have the experience of some of his market rivals but having earned in his last three of four starts can now hit the target. The grey was easy to back and yet ran a blinder to trouble the judge at Doncaster from which he has gone forward.
