SALISBURY

Race 1 No3 FIVE WAYS
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jason Watson

FIVE WAYS represents a stable that rarely leaves this track empty handed and is sure to be all the better for his promising first foray onto the track when troubling the judge at Newbury. The son of Kameko faces a stern foe in previous winner Crown Of Light, who has a Group 2 entry ahead, but I think he can take him down.

Race 4 No1 MAGIC BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Tinkler – Jockey: Alex Jary

Having travelled all the way from North Yorkshire, MAGIC BOY can show that the journey was worth its weight in gold. He stepped up considerably when second at Ripon, has enjoyed a freshening break, and should go one better under a useful apprentice who takes 5lb off his back.

Race 5 No3 ROSE PRICK (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

ROSE PRICK will probably start at a double-figure price for this featured Listed contest but don’t allow that to put you off, as she’s in very good order and more than capable of getting into the shake-up. She picked up black type in a similar contest at Nottingham, and was far from disgraced when eighth in the Kensington Palace at Ascot, just over seven lengths off the winner. She has one of these in her, and today could be her day.

BEVERLEY

Race 1 No6 USS CHARLESTON
Trainer: Lemos Souza – Jockey: Connor Beasley

With a top northern jockey in his saddle, this looks the right moment for USS CHARLESTON to open his account. He’s up against a few that have already shown ability, but having failed to justify heavy support at Leicester and Doncaster the pressure is on for a better outcome, and he can provide it.

Race 3 No6 CONJECTURE (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

After a string of near misses, CONJECTURE can finally get it right. The Palace Pier filly ran into one at Ffos Las to take her figures to 2222, but the ability is all there, while this stiff finish should play to her strengths.

FFOS LAS

Race 2 No3 CREST OF FIRE (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert

CREST OF FIRE has mixed it with some smart opponents but now gets the chance for a deserved first success in slightly easier company. The grey ran into the very smart Hankelow at York, and while only fourth in his latest of three outings at Ascot, should take care of business as the best bet on this card.

Race 4 No3 MASOLAR
Trainer: Jonny Portman – Jockey: Rob Hornby

MASOLAR has improved from race to race on the way to contesting a first handicap. The Masar filly put in a career best when chasing home the promising Song Brocade and is bred to enjoy this slightly longer trip.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No6 PEARLA (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: James Doyle

PEARLA claimed a cheque in each of her races in the spring and now returns from a break as the clear form pick. She’s a beautifully bred filly who has been working well, and with stable confidence behind her should open her account.

Race 6 No4 ANOTHER RUN
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: George Wood

It would be a fine training performance if Millman can bring ANOTHER RUN back into the winner’s circle after a more than 500-day absence. The five-year-old was last seen scoring at Southwell on his first run out of the yard, and while he’s had issues he carries the colours of a long-standing owner who has enjoyed abundant success with his horses over the years.
