NEWTON ABBOT
Race 2 No2 ILLOGICAL CHOICE
Trainer: Christian Williams – Jockey: Jack Tudor
ILLOGICAL CHOICE rates a winner without a penalty, considering he was in command when falling here last week. He’s none the worse for that uncharacteristic spill, and off the same mark should have the whip hand over Moonlight Artist.
Race 3 No5 CULLIGRAN (Nap)
Trainer: John O’Shea – Jockey: Kielan Woods
Notnowcato mare CULLIGRAN proved a springer in the market on her first outing over fences at Ffos Las last month. Though ultimately falling short, she jumped with aplomb and will be more knowledgeable in a race that has cut up in her favour. There’s a feeling she was given too much to do, while she’s competing off a mark only 1lb higher than her last win over hurdles.
NOTTINGHAM
Race 1 No11 SIR ALBERT
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
SIR ALBERT shaped with a deal of promise when troubling the judge on his Chepstow introduction. He kept on under an educational ride and will be a lot more streetwise with the champion jockey back in his saddle. He makes each way appeal in what could prove a warm contest that includes Godolphin’s 1,400000 guns purchase SILENT APPLAUSE.
Race 5 No2 METALLO (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
While things haven’t gone to plan so far this season for METALLO, this race offers him an opportunity to get it right. On two recent starts on turf he hasn’t managed to earn, but his seventh in a Class2 at Newmarket on Guineas day is better than it looks as he raced alone on the stands’ side and only weakened in the final furlong. He now eases back into a Class4.
Race 6 No6 SPANISH TRAIN
Trainer, Paul Cole – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Lope De Vega gelding SPANISH TRAIN wasn’t far away from the money after proving easy to back on his Kempton introduction. While he is sure to know more about what’s needed, he can take advantage should any of the forecast rain arrive at Colwick Park.
WARWICK
Race 2 No1 ICE IN THE VEINS (Nap)
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
After being supported, ICE IN THE VEINS got the job done well in spite of hitting traffic on his first run under Rules. The grey switches to hurdles having schooled satisfactorily at home, and should follow-up.
Race 5 No5 SOLEIL D’ARIZONA
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
The Skeltons have another good winning chance with SOLEIL D’ARIZONA even though the mare was in no way unlucky on her latest start over course and distance. At least that effort indicated she has benefitted from a wind operation, and she can seize advantage of her handy weight allowance from paper favourite Therapist.
Race 6 No1 OKAVANGO DELTA
Trainer: Paul Robson – Jockey: Ryan Mania
OKAVANGO DELTA is enjoying a hot streak and looked good value for his Worcester triumph where he came home unchallenged. He races from a 4lb higher mark, but has a great chance to make this a third win from his last four starts.
RIPON
Race 3 No9 POET’S DAWN (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
POET’S DAWN made a good fist of it when caught in the final stride at Redcar last week. The chestnut has run some of his best races at this course, and while in current good heart should make a bold bid to go one better.
Race 4 No5 LORD ABAMA
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley
LORD ABAMA has maintained a good level of form with a win and two seconds from four starts in 2025. He enjoys the faster ground, and represents a stable that excels with its sprint handicappers.
