KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No1 ALLEGRESSE (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Oasis Dream colt ALLEGRESSE was doing his best work at the finish against the more experienced Sunset On Leroy’s at Doncaster at the end of July. That augurs well for him as he stretches out to a mile on a first run on Polytrack, on which he has worked well at home. It’s always hard for juveniles to go into bat carrying penalties, and that could count against his main market rival PREVIOUS.

Race 5 No2 DISTINCTION (Each Way)
Trainer: John Mackie – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

There has been a ring of consistency about DISTINCTION since his programme was concentrated on turf. It’s brought about a couple of successes and places from his last five starts on stiff tracks. His two AW triumphs have happened at Wolverhampton, but it’s worth giving him another try on the Polytrack as he has his tail up, and looks over priced.

Race 6 No5 MODERNA (Each Way)
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Ghaiyyath filly MODERNA obtained a handicap mark with the best of three career attempts at Haydock. While clearly no star, she does at least appear unexposed, and if she’s gone forward from that should enter calculations.

CHEPSTOW

Race 2 No3 JEDDAAL (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Tom Marquand

JEDDAAL made his introduction at York, and though beating only one home that day didn’t shape badly. He them upped his game on a second start to chase home the useful Ancient Egypt at Beverley, with the first two pulling clear. He’s in good order for what should prove a first success, and at the expense of Queen Tamara.

Race 4 No5 OUTER EDGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Christopher Mason – Jockey: Gina Mangan

The addition of a visor can make a difference to OUTER EDGE, who posted a breakthrough success at this meeting in 2024 and has only raced on grass on one occasion subsequently. He troubled the judge on his latest start at Wolverhampton and gets on well with Mangan.

BRIGHTON

Race 2 No1 LORD MONTAGUE (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass

Having skipped an opportunity last week, for LORD MONTAGUE it’s mission accomplished as this looks a more straightforward task for the Serge Prokofiev gelding. He not only has solid form, but also the balance and brawn to handle this switchback course.

Race 4 No4 FIGHTING POET
Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: Jim Crowley

FIGHTING POET may be a risky proposition, but he scored at this meeting 12 months ago as well as successfully returning to the seaside venue in September. There were signs on his latest offering here at the start of the month that he’s on the cusp of another success, and Crowley can provide the kid glove handling to nurse him home.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 7 No6 TEAM PLAYER (Nap)
Trainer: Gemma Tutty – Jockey: Connor Beasley

The best bet of the day, but the only one on this disappointing card is TEAM PLAYER. The chestnut has thrived in his short time with Tutty, scoring on a first run for her at Chepstow, finishing third at Hamilton and then second in the Shergar Cup Classic at Ascot when only beaten a neck. He’s clearly thriving for a change of scenery, and this looks a more straightforward task.
