SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No10 GOOD SHOT
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Charlie Tucker

GOOD SHOT would be a poignant winner of this low grade handicap granted she carries the colours of Mill Reef, whose trainer Ian Balding passed last week.
The daughter of Lightning Spear put in easily her best all-weather performance when second Wolverhampton in November, with Tucker in her irons. She finished strongly, suggesting this big step up in trip will assist her.

Race 4 No6 ROMANTIC SPIRIT
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Rab Havlin

Having finished 2025 with figures of 3214, ROMANTIC SPIRIT returns to the scene of her last success and has a good chance to carbon copy the display by making all the running. She faces strong competition from SELENIC, though that opponent is coming off a lengthy absence and needs to prove her fitness.

Race 6 No5 IMOLA
Trainer: Joey Ramsden – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds

Long-standing maiden IMOLA has a good record at this course and can gain a deserved change of luck for her former South African based trainer. She attracted support on both her latest outings when second here to Ribston Pippin and third to Moyowasi, when she failed to recover from a poor start. Given luck in running the six-year-old will be hard to keep out of the money.

Race 7 No6 SEEING STARS (Nap)
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Luke Morris

Though going off at adds-on, SEEING STARS couldn’t resist the late challenge of Chantelle at Wolverhampton to make it back to back near misses at that track. She takes easily the best form to post for this restricted novice, and should make no mistake.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3 No1 MIDNIGHT CALL
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Matthew Slater

MIDNIGHT CALL has won twice and been placed three times in six outings since joining her trainer. Following back-to-back successes at this course she has a great chance to further boost her CV by completing a hat-trick, and she has the rail to help her.

Race 5 No1 BAKER BLUE (Nap)
Trainer: Dylan Cunha – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

BAKER BLUE adapted to sand like a duck to water with a very impressive all the way success at Southwell in which the gelding came home unchallenged. That first run for Cunha following several frame finishes on grass for Jessica Harrington suggests he could have a bright future in the AW sprints.
