SOUTHWELL
Race 4 No5 QUEENSBURY BOY
Trainer: Harry Derham – Jockey: Mr David Maxwell
Money for Ace Of Spades and A Pro Po would be of interest in this bumper but it might be better to row in with QUEENSBURY BOY, who was an impressive winner of his only start between the flags in Ireland. Hailing from a top source over there, he can immediately start paying back his fancy price tag.
Race 5 No5 TEDTWO (Nap)
Trainer: Kerry Lee – Jockey: Richard Patrick
TEDTWO missed out on a good opportunity last week but this looks an even better one for the Black Sam Bellamy gelding. He was a useful bumper horse and won at Catterick when trained in the North, and if a line is drawn through one poor effort at Kelso he’s the one they have to beat here.
Race 7 No3 ANNIE DAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: Jack Quinlan
ANNIE DAY was scoring on her seasonal reappearance for the second season running when successful in the gamest fashion at Warwick. Everything points to her having benefitted from a change of stables, and it would be no surprise to see her follow-up on this belated all-weather debut.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No6 BELCAMO (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Belardo colt BELCAMO troubled the judge on his Kempton introduction in the race won by Timetobenice. Beaten just three-quarters of a length in a blanket finish, he now enjoys the luxury of the rail and should take care of business at the main expense of Dashing Darcey.
Race 5 No1 LIGHT SPEED
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
The same trainer/ jockey combo can triumph in this competitive Class 4 handicap with the lightly-raced LIGHT SPEED. The Mehmas gelding cosily took the spoils under a penalty at Wolverhampton and though the assessor has taken no chances he can complete a hat-trick on this handicap debut.
Race 8 No6 SIXTIES CHIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
SIXTIES CHIC is part of a small team that will race out of West Ilsley Stables through the winter. The daughter of Sixties Icon returned from a protracted break to spring a 33-1 surprise at Wolverhampton before failing by just a head to follow-up at this course. A two-time winner from only seven career starts, she should continue to pay her way, with another big earning run in the offing.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 4 No1 GALLOPING ON (Nap)
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
Invincible Army colt GALLOPING ON enjoys the rail in this race around a lap of the Dunstall Park track. An earner on both outings so far, he chased home a decent foe over the course and distance last month and can use that experience to good effect against a potentially dangerous opponent in Super Saiyan.
Race 5 No2 WOODSTOCK CITY (Each Way)
Trainer: Ian Williams – Jockey: Clifford Lee
A chance is taken on WOODSTOCK CITY on his first outing for the Williams stable. The son of Churchill was a dual winner for Christopher Head in France including in handicap company on the Deauville all weather. He was a regular earner and looks a good addition to his trainer’s West Midlands team.
Race 6 No1 WHATWOULDYOUKNOW
Trainer: Nigel Tinkler – Jockey: Faye McManoman
WHATWOULDYOUKNOW appeals as one of the stronger bets on this card, fresh from a stretch of earning efforts at Newcastle including a deserved triumph there on his latest start. The eight-year-old is not averse to gaining back-to-back successes and gets on well with his pilot.
