LEICESTER
Race 4 No3 CROWN OFFICE (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
CROWN OFFICE went off a 9-4 favourite for a York maiden in which his chance disappeared when he reared leaving the stalls. He managed to recover and get into contention, but the incident ultimately cost him his winning chance. In the silks of Saeed Suhail he is worth supporting to make amends.
Race 7 No9 EDGEWATER DRIVE (Each Way)
Trainer: Wilf Storey – Jockey: S D Bowen
Bottom weight EDGEWATER DRIVE won in the soft at Catterick and earned in the heavy at Ayr to bolster a good record since joining his veteran handler. The Dandy Man gelding has won or been placed in six of his nine starts for Storey, and if near his paper price is a solid win and place proposition.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 3 No6 NIGHTSINWHITESATIN
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Archie Young
NIGHTSINWHITESATIN ahead put in just one disappointing show this year and that was on her reappearance at Doncaster when an 80-1 roughie. Subsequent evidence is of a filly that’s progressing along the right lines, and having troubled the judge in a Class2 at Nottingham last time she can make the best of this drop in grade.
Race 4 No2 KIRKDALE
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Archie Young
KIRKDALE represents the same trainer/jockey team, and though coming with risks attached can up his game with the addition of blinkers. He was easy to back to put in a sound effort to trouble the judge at Newcastle, and now gets the chance to live up to his encouraging work at home on a return to turf.
Race 6 No5 THE GOOD BISCUIT (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Joanna Mason
THE GOOD BISCUIT relished the easy conditions when notching a second Pontefract triumph last week and from a cracking draw holds strong claims to follow-up in similarly testing ground.
FFOS LAS
Race 2 No8 STARZAND (Nap)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Sean Houlihan
Big Cadillac returns from a breathing operation as a likely favourite for this maiden hurdle but might find STARZAND too hot to handle. The Nap made a good impression when scoring on his debut under Rules here in March and he’s been going very well at home in preparation for a first run over hurdles.
Race 5 No6 TOMMYS CHARM
Trainer: Kerry Lee – Jockey: Conor O’Farrell
One that could command support in this handicap chase is the unexposed TOMMYS CHARM. On just a fifth outing under Rules and third over fences he’s fancied to endorse the promise of a narrow defeat at the hands of Ideal Des Bordes at Wincanton.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 4 No11 WHO IS ALICE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
WHO IS ALICE has performed with mixed results since dominating a race at Chepstow over 1200 metres. She doesn’t get 1400 metres as shown at Epsom and Newbury, but the gamble to bring her back to the minimum distance can pay off, as she has the pick of the draw and could go gate to wire.
Race 6 No7 TRYST (Nap)
Trainer: George Boughey – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
TRYST put in an improved display on second start at Newmarket where she threatened to lead throughout. If showing normal progression from that very good run she can open her account, and is well drawn to achieve it.
Race 8 No9 BREAK POINT
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Hollie Doyle
At the end of play BREAK POINT can deliver in the nightcap. He’s won and placed twice in as many runs over hurdles for his trainer, and could easily leave his modest form on the Flat from before he joined Murphy well behind.
