SEDGEFIELD

Race 1 No1 RECOUP (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

RECOUP to beat What A Johnny is the way this novices’ hurdle should pan out. The Nap was a winner for Andre Fabre at Clairefontaine before a battling success on his first outing for O’Brien at Ludlow. In the colours of Harry Redknapp he can remain unbeaten over jumps.

Race 5 No9 COUP DE GOLD (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

The diminutive COUP DE GOLD has made progress from race to race in his three outings this season. He claimed a minor cheque when not beaten far at Hexham last time, giving him a chance of ending a losing run that stretches back to Christmas four years ago.

Race 6 No1 BALLYBEGG BOSS
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

With McCain’s horses starting to find there form the one to be on is BALLYBEG BOSS. The top weight posted three seconds in a bumper, a maiden hurdle and a novice only to underwhelm when last seen at Newcastle in March. Importantly, he’s always been regarded as a chaser in chrysalis, and has been well tutored for this first run over fences.

Race 7 No7 VANILLA DANCER
Trainer: Chris Grant – Jockey: William Maggs

Deep Strato was the winner of his only start in a point and will have his supporters, but VANILLA DANCER is a potential improver and just preferred. The selection finished third when easy to back on his debut in a bumper at this course last month, and will know more about what’s required.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No6 EURKASH
Trainer: Paul Webber – Jockey: Liam Harrison

EURKASH operates well on a tight track and should be right at home on this first visit to Southwell. He made a pleasing return when second toSupasunrise at Warwick, and as that run should have brought him 9n he can record a first success for just short of three years.

Race 5 No7 MADAME POMPADOUR
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

MADAME POMPADOUR could be the answer to an open looking mares’ hurdle. The five-year-old picked up a minor cheque on her Rules debut at Newton Abbot before being sent to Henderson and has schooled satisfactorily ahead of this first run over jumps. Newcomer Alljani is worth a market check, while Telepathique can also get into the shake-up.

Race 7 No8 HILL OF TARA
Trainer: Venetia Williams – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch

Unbeaten since being switched to handicaps, HILL OF TARA can endorse the good form of his trainer’s team by completing a fine hat-trick. The six-year-old now finds himself in hotter company and opposed by a couple of in form foes in God’s Own Getaway and Montregard. However the selection receives lumps of weight from those foes and can extend his sequence.
