RIPON

Race 1 No5 POETS DAWN (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Alexander Feilding

POETS DAWN has found this garden course a regular earning venue, and though only once successful here has finished in the money in all but one of his fourteen other visits. The veteran signalled with another good earning run last time that he can soon gain a first success since the autumn of 2023.

Race 4 No9 ACT OF VIOLENCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

On what I hope will be a bountiful afternoon for the Easterbys ACT OF VIOLENCE should with a frame finish confirm his liking for this track. He’s a speedily-bred individual who doesn’t have many miles on his racing clock. On what is only his eighth career start he can get into the shake-up though from his position at the other end of the gate MUSCIKA may also get involved.

Race 5 No4 MOUNT KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

MOUNT KING ran well on his latest outing at this course but would have finished closer under stronger handling. The best way to ride the ex-Irish gelding is from a hold-up position but not too far off the pace. If that is achieved he can definitely make an impact.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 4 No5 SIXCOR
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Mark Winn

SIXCOR takes the eye as he attempts to repeat his victory in the corresponding race of 2023. He can be an in-and-out performer, but a recent game triumph at Ayr confirms he’s operating in the zone, while he should enjoy a return to this track with Winn in his saddle for the first time in more than a year.

Race 6 No6 MR STRUTTER (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Andrew Eillott

With a near miss at this course earlier in the month MR STRUTTER indicated he’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle. He should appreciate dropping back to a mile and may benefit from the addition of first-time cheek pieces.

Race 7 No7 INSPIRING SPEECHES
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Jason Hart

INSPIRING SPEECHES has upped his game since his trainer added headgear with a couple of close defeats in successive outings. On a first visit to this Edinburgh track, he can belatedly post a first career success, as he represents a stable that’s amongst the winners and whose handicappers are performing well.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 4 No10 MOUNT MOGAN ( Each Way)
Trainer: Laura Mongan – Jockey: Rhys Clutterbuck

MOUNT MOGAN returns from a mid-season break and competes from the foot of the weights from a favourable draw. Twelve of his 15 outings through 2023 and 2024 have been on this Polytrack surface, while he was made plenty of use of when scoring here last November. His chance will increase if he’s ridden in front or close to the pace.

Race 6 No3 NOTRE MAISON (Nap)
Trainer: Stuart Kittow – Jockey: Rob Hornby

NOTRE MAISON has been freshened-up since scoring in a first-time visor at Windsor in late June. On a first career outing on Polytrack and with that headgear retained she can follow up.

STRATFORD

Race 4 No2 CALSHOT SPIT (Nap)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Marc Goldstein

CALSHOT SPIT has taken well to hurdling after troubling the judge on several occasions on the Flat. The four-year-old has his share of weight for this first run in a handicap over jumps, but both his runs in maiden and novice company have been promising, while he was a convincing winner of a Class6 on his latest outing on the level at Lingfield.

Race 5 No3 PHOENIX AQUILUS (Each Way)
Trainer: Seamus Mullins – Jockey: James Bowen

PHOENIX AQUILUS failed to menace after attracting late support on his first run out of the Mullins stable. He earned on his last three starts for his previous trainer and is well-handicapped, he just needs to bounce back from that disappointing return to action.
