LINGFIELD PARK

Race2 No5 PORT GEORGE

Trainer: Oliver Greenall – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

PORT GEORGE was a 50-1 shot when making progress from his debut to finish second at Windsor. His forcing tactics came close to paying off, and over the same trip he can prove equally hard to peg back for a trainer who doesn’t send many horses to this course.

Race. 6 No7 SWEET SONATA (Nap)

Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

SWEET SNATA can spark a good day for the Millman stable by taking out this fillies’ handicap under the champion jockey. The daughter of Sergei Prokofiev looks a much improved sprinter with her success at Goodwood and game effort from the front when second at Leicester. She’s up against a useful opponent in Spiritualism, but should come out on top.

Race 7 No4 ROMAN EMPEROR

Trainer: John Ryan – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

ROMAN EMPEROR and fellow recent scorer Roman Spring are the ones that can fight it out in this bottom grade sprint. The selection ended a long losing run when successful at Yarmouth at the end of last month, an exercise which has provided him with a confidence boost.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 6 No2 MERESIDE MADNESS

Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Joe Fanning

MERESIDE MADNESS returned from a three month break to deliver at Thirsk. It’s not the first time the chestnut has gone well when fresh, but he’s also demonstrated that he can back it up, and he should enjoy this belated first visit to Musselburgh.

Race 7 No3 BALMERINO

Trainer: Lucinda Russell – Jockey: Jack Nicholls

BALMERINO raised his game in a first earning experience when second at Ayr to make him the go-to horse in the nightcap. He’s got scope for progression and has a top apprentice doing the steering.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3 No8 LYRA LEA (Nap)

Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds

Fresh from his big race success in the Newbury Super Sprint, Millman looks to have the answer to this fillies’ maiden with LYRA LEA who chased home a useful sort when second on debut at Ffos Las and faces manly less experienced rivals on her switch to sand.

Race 5 No8 BRAVE GUEST

Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex

One that interests me in this low grade handicap is BRAVE GUEST. He’s proved easy to back on all three starts on the way to obtaining a mark but gained experience of this course last time, and now steps up considerably in trip, which he’s bred to appreciate.

Race 6 No5 FANCY DANCER

Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: S D Bowen

This 0-62 handicap should prove within the compass of FANCY DANCER even though the grey needs to overcome a tricky outside draw. She managed to circumnavigate a similar problem when coming from off the pace to score at Bath last month when landing some good bets in the process, while in two earlier visits to this course she won and finished second, making her very much the form pick.
