Jamie Moore's Diary - jockey talks Goshen and Ascot rides

BRIGHTON

Race 1 No1 BLUE POINT EXPRESS (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

BLUE POINT EXPRESS posted her best run so far when third as an easy-to-back 12-1 chance at Ripon. That qualified the Blue Point filly to run 8n nurseries, and though the assessor has taken no chances with her this doesn’t look a very deep race.

Race 2 No4 SAIGON DREAM
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Nicola Currie

SAIGON DREAM has been a slow burner, hence her late introduction to the track, but after showing promise when ridden by Currie at home she can outpoint her more experienced foes in colours made popular by Certain Lad.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No4 MYTHICAL BIRD (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Several of those towards the front of the market in this fillies’ maiden are badly drawn, but not so MYTHICAL BIRD. The grey will break from one off the fence and will have derived considerable benefit from her first outing when posting a midfield finish at Goodwood. This doesn’t look the hottest of contests, making her one of the best bets of the day.

Race 5 No6 KING’S SCHOLAR
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

KING’S SCHOLAR has twice grazed the crossbar, most recently on handicap debut at Ffos Las. He was in fact no match for Imperial Express that day, but is the type to keep on improving and especially over this slightly longer trip.

Race 7 No3 AMERICAN FASHION
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

Dropping back to 1200 metres appeared to assist AMERICAN FASHION when she finished second at Lingfield, whilst it also served to help her obtain a mark. She has plenty going for her in this first handicap and open her account.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1 No2 CUBAN GIRL (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

CUBAN GIRL might have been unlucky not to open her account at the first time of asking when third at Windsor. She wasn’t granted much racing real estate in the closing stages, while the outing will have done her the world of good. She’s going to enjoy stretching out of the distance ladder and is a worthy favourite to take the spoils.

Race 2 No5 MAKE LOVE (Each Way)
Trainer: James Horton – Jockey: Adan Farragher

MAKE LOVE ran well to trouble the judge in a warm maiden at Newmarket won by Timefall. It was the second time she attracted market support, and her two-length defeat is strong form to take into her first nursery.

NOTTINGHAM

Race 3 No1 WILD CLARY (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Sean Levey

While it’s hard to run your pen through the names of many in this 1200 metres nursery, top-weight WILD CLARY is the one I keep going back to. He’s enjoyed a freshening break since a solid enough run at Salisbury in June in a race that has worked out, and though facing strong competition from Aysgarth should be good enough.

Race 5 No6 KING’S SCHOOL (Each Way)
Trainer: Gemma Tutty – Jockey: Tom Marquand

KING’S SCHOOL upped his game when equipped with cheek pieces on what was his best run since joining Tutty. The Lightning Spear gelding has Marquand in the hot seat for the first time, and may prove a thorn in the side of recent scorers Always Fearless and Bowood.
