REDCAR

Race 2 No1 U TURN
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

U TURN has been a regular earner at this level, scoring over five furlongs and proving just as effective at this 1200 metres trip. On ground that will benefit him the colt can give the course’s leading trainer another winner.

Race 4 No12 PAPA COCKTAIL (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

PAPA COCKTAIL was beautifully ridden when coming from last to first to score at Doncaster, only for similar tactics to come unstuck in his follow-up attempt at Yarmouth where his late surge failed by a nose. The Churchill gelding is operating at the height of his powers, and under a jockey that knows him well can return to winning ways.

Race 7 No4 APHRODITES ROCK (Each Way)
Trainer: Tom Dascombe – Jockey: Alistair Rawlinson

Fastnet Rock filly APHRODITES ROCK has been edging towards a first success of the season which can arrive in this stayers’ handicap. She’s started at odds ranging between 16-1 and 33-1 only to earn on five of her eight career starts and should not be underestimated, as her defeat by Gentle Warrior at Haydock last time was a career best effort.

YARMOUTH

Race 2 No3 BLACK ENDEAVOUR
Trainer: Mark Rimell – Jockey: Jack Mitchell

BLACK ENDEAVOUR opened his account in gritty fashion at Nottingham and ran well to trouble the judge when easy to back over this 1400 metres trip at Newbury. A strongly made individual, he can bounce back on a track that should play to his strengths.

Race 3 No9 SPYCE (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Although running green, SPYCE put in a huge first run in the Convivial Stakes at York as a 28-1 roughie, and is the automatic go-to contender for this maiden. His conqueror Frescobaldi was unable to frank the form at Doncaster, but it would be unwise to oppose the Nap, who has learned plenty from it.

UTTOXETER

Race 2 No4 PERCY SHELLEY (Nap)
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Sean Bowen

Although he has proved a perennial groomsman this summer, PERCY SHELLEY has taken well to jumping hurdles at home and on Flat form is hard to oppose in this maiden hurdle. He’s looked sure to win on more than one occasion only to have his resolve tested including when beaten half a length at Chester this time. A move to this discipline could be what’s required to sweeten him up.

Race 4 No7 BUMPY EVANS
Trainer: Kerry Lee – Jockey: Richard Patrick

Such is the progression of BUMPY EVANS that he was handed a 17lb rise following an impressive triumph at Cartmel which took his tally to four wins from five outings over fences. It’s hard to know how good the hooded seven-year-old is, but he can continue his rise up the tanks under a jockey who ‘bows him well.

Race 6 No6 SHANTOU LUCKY
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Nathan Howie

Having bolted up on a first run for this stable at Fontwell, SHANTOU LUCKY was carded to go off a long odds on shot at Worcester yesterday with the plan to switch to fences for a second outing within 24 hours in a daring hat-trick tilt. He’s schooled well in Newmarket, and should make no mistake.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1 No2 NANNY PARK (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

NANNY PARK is back to a mile after finishing third in a seller at Goodwood over eleven furlongs, and has Oisin Murphy doing the steering for an in-form stable. The Golden Horn filly was successful over this distance last season, and though tackling plating company last time probably faces weaker opposition here, making her a deserving favourite.

Race 3 No6 MYSTICAL EYE
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

A market watch is recommended on MYSTICAL EYE who is a beautifully bred individual making his debut. The son of Expert Eye is out of a speedy race mare who won over 1200 metres, and also closely related to a three times winner whilst hailing for a yard that’s enjoying a hot streak.

Race 6 No10 KINGSTON SUNFLOWER
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Gina Mangan

Front runner KINGSTON SUNFLOWER has to be of considerable interest on her first run out of the O’Brien yard. While yet to win on the Flat she’s made the podium on her last four starts, and is a three times winner over hurdles. The change of scenery could be just what the doctor ordered
