LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No8 RIBSTON PIPPIN
Trainer: Lemos Souza – Jockey: Finley Marsh

RIBSTON PIPPIN brings a string of solid runs to the table, including a Yarmouth success and latterly a near miss at Wolverhampton. The Ribchester gelding now has cheek pieces added and a longer trip at which to overcome his wide draw.

Race 4 No3 FROM THE HIP
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Tyler Heard

FROM THE HIP has shown ability to earn on both grass and sand, and is arguably the form pick on this first run in a handicap. He enjoys the pick of the draw and is in the A1 position to dominate in a finish that could also see SPACEWOMAN taking away a slice of the cake.

Race 6 No3 SAXONIA (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Although his record on grass is some way superior to that on the all-weather, SAXONIA is very much the go-to horse in this race around a lap of the track. He faces a bunch of mainly out of form rivals, and with the champ in the irons looks the best bet on the card.

LEICESTER

Race 6 No1 ARKENSTAAR
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

ARKENSTAAR is the winner of three of his last four starts for a stable whose horses have peaked later than usual this season. While he’s creeping up the weights it’s hard to oppose him on a first visit to this course, which is not dissimilar to his favourite Hamilton.

Race 7 No9 SARAB STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Clifford Lee

SARAB STAR is the least exposed runner in this Class3, and a horse with any amount of progression in him. His select campaign numbers just one run, and a win, in a minor affair at Kempton, where he dominated throughout. He’s a very good worker, and if able to handle the bustle of the 17 runner field should make this a third success from just four career starts.

MARKET RASEN

Race 1 No4 UN SENS A LA VIE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Point winner UN SENS A LA VIE was a cosy scorer on his debut under Rules and on a first run out of Grange Farm at this track in February. Though not seen subsequently, the five-year-old has been training well and can show with a winning start over jumps that he‘s among the nicer prospects from this stable.

Race 3 No2 PARC D’AMOUR
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

PARC D’AMOUR was just an occasional visitor to the racecourse last season, but in three outings underlined the promise of his season racing over hurdles with a win and two placed efforts over fences. Before going down that route again, he can take out this handicap hurdle at the expense of paper favourite INDEMNITY.

Race 5 No5 NICKELFORCE
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: J M Quinlan

After a few near misses this should be NICKELFORCE’s day. He was at his best at this time last year with victories at Stratford and Ludlow, and in eight subsequent outings over fences he’s earned on six occasions, with a near miss at Kelso on the latest.

NEWCASTLE

Race 1 No8 TYRAXES
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald

TYRAXES shaped with promise to trouble the judge on his first outing at Lingfield last month and is going to be more streetwise for this clash with the more experienced odds-on favourite Antrim, who he can outpoint.

Race 4 No7 BLAZING (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Archie Young

BLAZING hasn’t managed to back up his good reappearance effort when second at Chester but might be worth chancing considering his big double figure price. He clearly has ability, and has a useful apprentice taking 5lb off his back.

Race 5 No4 RAIN CAP (Nap)
Trainer: John Riches – Jockey, Oisin Orr

RAIN CAP is operating at a decent level of consistency which makes him an alluring proposition in this bottom grade sprint handicap. He appeals as the best bet of the day.
