LINGFIELD PARK
Race 2 No7 HE’S A LATCHICO (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Jamie Moore
Klitschko is a promising recruit to handicaps but could struggle to successfully concede 19lbs to the in-form HE’S A LATCHICO. The latter ended last NH season taking out back-to-back races at Fontwell, and in a select campaign on the Flat won at Sandown in the summer. He’s relatively lightly raced over jumps, and needs respecting from his place in the weights.
Race 4 No9 DE TELLERS FORTUNE
Trainer: Nicky Henderson- Jockey: Nico de Boinville
Henderson is in the process of unveiling a host of inexperienced novices in the run up to Christmas. DE TELLERS FORTUNE is one of that number, bringing to the table a sole point-to-point success when he was trained in Ireland. He’s given out some good signals at home, and should be too strong for Land Genie in an interesting heat.
Race 7 No4 KENNY GEORGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Marc Goldstein
KENNY GEORGE has taken away a cheque on each of his three jumping visits to this course. It’s four years since his only success in the winter code, but after his good readying effort at Stratford he’s in a strong position to consolidate and can give us a good run for our money.
NEWCASTLE
Race 1 No11 VISITANT (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Gianluca Sanna
VISITANT might not leap off the page as the answer to this low grade handicap, but he has good form at Gosforth Park and can outrun his likely high odds. It wasn’t far short of two years ago that he last tasted success on sand, but he was on the mark at Redcar in August and now has a new jockey doing the steering who is going to be more a help than a hindrance.
Race 5 No9 SOLRAY (Nap)
Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam – Jockey: Jonny Peate
Lurking at the foot of the weights in this all-aged handicap, SOLRAY is a colt that could have more to offer on the back of a useful course and distance success in which he broke his maiden. The New Bay colt faces strong opposition, especially from fellow three-year-old Primeval, but should be up to the task at hand.
Race 6 No2 TRAIS FLUORS (Each Way)
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Callum Shepherd
Veteran TRAIS FLEURS put up an eye taking performance when badly missing the break but flying home at Kempton to be beaten in a close photo. He’s subsequently changed stable, and if the Scottish air has agreed with him he should have a say in this low grade handicap.
HUNTINGDON
Race 3 No7 SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE
Trainer: Paul Webber – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE returns from a lengthy absence having saved his best run last season for his only visit to this course when second to Stylish Moment in April. With relatively few miles on his racing clock and a new jockey in the irons the ten-year-old can prove a danger to all.
Race 4 No1 CASA NO MENTO
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
Multiple scorer Dysart Enos is carded to start favourite for this mares’ novices hurdle but might have to play second fiddle to CASA NO MENTO. The selection contested some hot bumpers before making her hurdling debut at Market Rasen in September, where she ran out an impressive winner. She’s worked and schooled well ahead of this seasonal return.
Race 5 No2 REGARDE (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
REGARDE looked a different horse when switched to fences and coming home unchallenged at this course last month. It’s unlikely that a 6lb rise will impair his momentum, and he’s confidently taken to follow-up.
Race 7 No3 DAMEOFTHECOTSWOLDS
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
With the benefit of a recent run under her belt, DAMEOFTHECOTSWOLDS takes the eye in the concluding bumper. After attracting support she finished just out of the money in that Stratford contest, but her trainer’s decision to bring her out so quickly tells you she’s greatly benefitted from the experience.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 4 No3 SOUTH KENSINGTON (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: David Probert
Blue Point filly SOUTH KENSINGTON was going on strongly at the finish on her first attempt at seven furlongs at Newcastle, a run that earned her a mark. She shaped well on debut in a warm maiden at Newmarket and is the one in the field most likely to take a significant step forward.
Race 9 No9 ASSEMBLED (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Rimell – Jockey: Rob Hornby
ASSEMBLED ended the turf season with a success at Windsor followed by an earning run under a penalty at the same course. The grey failed to menace of two previous visits to Dunstall Park, but is worth chancing to now get his act together on the Tapeta surface.
