LEICESTER
Race 1 No2 SPRING CHORUS (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Andrea Pinna
The first of two runners here from his stable, SPRNG CHORUS appeals as the best bet on the card. The New Approach mare has maintained a good level of form in four outings in a first season with Herrington. She’s often attracted market support, and is strongly fancied to return to winning ways with a capable apprentice taking 7lb off.
Race 4 No1 MONOCEROS
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick
Dubawi colt MONOCEROS made no mistake on his Newmarket introduction, overcome greenness to wear down I Can Dance with the pair drawing clear. This galloping track should suit the selection, who has done well in the interim and can remain unbeaten under his penalty.
Race 5 No1 CATCH CUNNINGHAM (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Dylan Hogan
CATCH CUNNINGHAM needs to be ridden cold, and consequently hasn’t enjoyed the rub of the green on a few occasions this summer. Interestingly he was a winner the last time he visited this Oadby course 15 months ago, while his form in also far barren 2025 suggests he’s improved. His last two efforts haven’t been as good, but back on a terrain he enjoys I fancy him to stage a renaissance.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 1 No5 BOLLIN NEIL
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Miss Emily Roberts
Another that can bounce back is BOLLIN NEIL, who after scoring at this sharp track was totally unsuited to the long straight at Hamilton and finished in the ruck. The dual purpose operator makes a quick reappearance and it would be no surprise whatsoever to see him return to his best.
Race 2 No9 BETWEENTHESTICKS (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: PJ McDonald
BETWEENTHESTICKS and Birkenhead are a couple of cast offs from the same stable who despite being poorly drawn can go well in this sprint handicap. Preference is for the former, who scored over course and distance in May, and ran well in three starts through August to notch a Pontefract success alongside near misses at this course and Ripon. He’s clearly on very good terms with himself.
NEWTON ABBOT
Race 5 No1 JUGGERNAUT (Nap)
Trainer: Anthony Honeyball – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
Although he’s been done no favours by the handicapper, JUGGERNAUT looks like a winner waiting to happen and it probably will on his third visit in a row to this venue. The top weight has been largely campaigned as a summer jumper and doesn’t run very often, but all the evidence from his back-to-back earning efforts here is that he will enjoy a change of luck, while this contest has cut up beautifully for him.
FFOS LAS
Race 4 No4 TOKYO JOE (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
This should result in an all Lambourn finish, with TOKYO JOE having the edge over Palio Di Siena and Cosmo Godspeed. the Nap has troubled the judge on all three 2025 outings, with his style of racing given hope that he might be more streetwise in ground that will be new territory for him.
Race 6 No5 GNOMON
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Fresh from his cosy success at Haydock on Friday, GNOMON can defy a 5lb penalty. He’s taken those exertions in his stride, but more importantly it looks like he’s crying out for this substantially longer trip of a mile and threequarters.
Race 7 No3 LHEBAYEB
Trainer: Richard Price – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Seven-year-old mare LHEBAYEB handles testing conditions and can post a popular local victory for a trainer whose high spot came with Flakey Dove in the Champion Hurdle. She picked up a minor cheque over course and distance last month and can make this a fourth success of the season.
CARLISLE
Race 2 No9 RUM THERAPY (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman
RUM THERAPY did this column a favour with her 25-1 success on handicap debut at Beverley and can now show it was no fluke. This is a similarly stiff track and from a good draw the Dark Angel filly can follow up.
Race 6 No2 RAVISHING BEAUTY
Trainer: Jedd O’Keeffe – Jockey: J Garritty
RAVISHING BEAUTY has proved a good servant to her connections with an impressive sequence of earning efforts this year. The Camelot filly was racing off a 2lb higher mark when second at Ayr and granted her sheer consistency she can have the whip hand over the penalised Brighton scorer Lunanova.
Race 7 No1 ONE NIGHT THUNDER
Trainer: Gemma Tutty – Jockey: Kaiya Fraser
The hooded ONE NIGHT THUNDER was a tidy winner over this course and distance and bids to strike while the iron’s hot for his in-form trainer. It’s taken the top weight a while to find his niche, but recent evidence is that he’s never been better, and he’s fancied to go back to back.
