HAYDOCK PARK

Race 2 No2 ARABIAN COBRA (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Harry Dawes

Locally trained ARABIAN COBRA might have copped it lucky getting drawn in the outer stall in this 15-runner novice. The grey was asked a lot when debuting in the Lily Agnes at Chester, but showed how much he learned from the run when finishing second at Windsor. He has the points on the board from an experience angle, and unless there’s something smart amongst the newcomers should open his account.

Race 3 No7 THE GOOD BISCUIT
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert

THE GOOD BISCUIT included a seller amongst his two juvenile successes but subsequent efforts have proved he had no right being in the basement window. He followed up that Leicester success by a wide margin at Lingfield and although put in his place at York, did nothing wrong when edged out by Sergeant Wilko on his return to action back at Leicester. He’s in great heart for this and should give a good account.

Race 5 No9 LASTING LOVE
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

Lope De Vega filly LASTING LOVE gets the vote in what is a step down the class ladder. Although finishing last in the Cheshire Oaks she was beaten just over seven lengths, while she’d gone down only in a blanket finish on her first run back in a Newbury maiden. While the Listed route proved a little ambitious, she should now be firmly in her comfort zone.

UTTOXETER

Race 4 No7 CHARLIE’S GLANCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Martin – Jockey: J Martin

CHARLIE’S GLANCE benefitted from a breathing operation when scoring over fences at Huntingdon, and while a second wind op is yet to show its benefits he can get competitive on a fourth run a fairly quick succession in this two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle.

Race 5 No5 KINTAIL (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: James Bowen

The one that jumps off the page in this long-distance handicap hurdle is the lightly-raced KINTAIL. The dual Warwick scorer has subsequently contested Class3 races at Cheltenham and Lingfield and not been disgraced. This will be his first run in four months, but if handling the quicker conditions he should prove hard to beat.

Race 7 No5 DEFENCE WITNESS (Each Way)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson – Jockey: Ryan Mania

DEFENCE WITNESS can make the long trip from Scotland worthwhile by playing a big part in this tightly-knit affair. He faces strong opposition from Ambassador, Orchestra and Chef De Troupe but brings good form to the table with a success in his only bumper and frame finishes in both novice hurdles he contested.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 1 No2 KOMORKIS (Nap)
Trainer, Richard Fahey – Jockey: Oisin Orr

Fahey usually unleashes his better quality juveniles at this time of the season, making KOMORKIS of extra interest. The Cotai Glory filly should on pedigree need every yard of the 1200 metres as she’s out of a Sea The Stars mare, but the vibes about her from Malton suggest she’s not short of pace, and she can convert at the first time of asking.

Race 2 No10 SOUND REASON (Each Way)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

SOUND REASON is yet to show in three outings for his trainer that he’s benefitted from a change of scenery. Be that as it may, he’s worked himself onto a favourable mark and gives me the impression he could pop up unexpectedly. While yet to win at this course, he is worth a speculative bet to bounce back.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 2 No8 LOVESTRUCK ROMEO (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: Nicola Currie

LOVESTRUCK ROMEO can give a further boost to the status of rookie stallion Sergei Prokofiev with a victory in the famous Sangster colours. The chestnut has the advantage of competing with two outings already under his belt, as well as breaking from the rail. He should be fully tuned to parry the challenge of Brian, who came back with a hard luck story when picking up a minor cheque on his first outing, and who rates a big threat.

Race 6 No2 STAY WELL
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Rob Hornby

STAY WELL is attempting to end a 14-race wait for success but has solid claims in a race that might not take much winning. He failed to make any impression in the Cambridgeshire and was well-held on his return to action at the Newmarket Guineas meeting. However, he’s now in calmer waters contesting a Class3, and at his forecast price is a value option.
