SEDGEFIELD

Race 5 No6 HALFWAY HOUSE LAD (Each Way)
Trainer: Maurice Barnes – Jockey: Charlie Price

HALFWAY HOUSE LAD was a three times winner over fences last season and has needed his first two runs back including when taking away a minor cheque at Ayr. That should have put the cutting edge on the six-year-old who is handicapped to win this if recapturing his best form.

Race 6 No6 DEVON SKIES (Nap)
Trainer: Phil Kirby – Jockey: Joe Williamson

Mares could dominate this novices’ limited handicap hurdle in which DEVON SKIES is preferred to LILLISTAR. The selection left previous form behind with her clear cut success over course and distance earlier in the month, and can strike while the iron’s hot.

MARKET RASEN

Race 1 No4 JAPETUS
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

LOCK STOCK ran well in defeat first time back but faces a horse with just as much potential in hat-trick seeking JAPETUS. The selection hails from a stable firmly amongst the winners and was impressive when defying a penalty for his second bumper success at Hexham. He’s highly regarded by his trainer, and can take the spoils on the way to better things.

Race 2 No3 MOON OVER AMERICA (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Point winner MOON OVER AMERICA ran into a smart foe in Harbour Island at Ffos Las but will not encounter such strong opposition and is napped to open his account for a stable doing well with its novices at the smaller tracks. Back from his summer at grass, the Sea Moon gelding has been going well at Grange Farm.

Race 6 No4 YOU DID
Trainer: Brian Ellison – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

Several have genuine claims in this three miles handicap hurdle, however YOU DID stepped up a notch when scoring at Hexham when moved up to the stayers’ distance last time. The ground will be ideal for the Mount Nelson gelding who can win again.

Race 7 No4 WHITE NOISE
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

The nightcap features a number of winning mares to make it an open heat, but WHITE NOISE has the advantage of few miles on her racing clock, while aggressive riding tactics served her well in her comeback triumph at Worcester. This slightly longer trick should further play to her strengths.
