LINGFIELD PARK

Race 3 No11 MUSICAL ANGEL
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

MUSICAL ANGEL failed to justify the support that came her way on a first outing of 2025 at Southwell. She may have needed the run, and over this more suitable 1200 metres can prove a match for the promising Keybaar.

Race 4 No8 THREATENING (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

THREATENING ran into one when beaten by Crest Of Light at Wolverhampton and is well worth keeping at the same trip. He’s getting a handy weight allowance from his foes, and is drawn to serve it up to them from the favoured rail.

Race 5 No10 MOUNT MOGAN
Trainer: Laura Mongan – Jockey: Luke Morris

MOUNT MOGAN can make this a fifth course and distance success in a race where from a good draw he can lie handy and counter in the short home straight. He had his winning sequence halted here in April, but that was a solid enough effort, and he’s competing off the same mark.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 4 No3 TROPICAL ISLAND (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Oisin Orr

TROPICAL ISLAND might not have cut the mustard last year, but she looked an improved sprinter when quickening up impressively to score on her reappearance at Ripon. She’s been handed a 7lb rise, but could still be ahead of her rating and seems to be recapturing the promise of her two-year-old campaign.

Race 5 No3 BUBBLES WONKY
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

BUBBLES WONKY hit traffic on the way to finishing second on his latest start over course and distance and remains on a workable mark. He handles fast ground well for a son of Lope De Vega, and on this third start of 2025 is primed to deliver.

UTTOXETER

Race 2 No2 POUNDING POET (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

POUNDING POET is a winner at this venue who ran well to trouble the judge in a stronger race last time. Though not getting any younger, his profile looks stronger than market rival and Worcester scorer Ernest Gray, whose challenge he can successfully repel.

Race 7 No10 CRYSTAL MER
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Sean Bowen

CRYSTAL MER skipped an opportunity last week to make a first outing for his trainer, and the move can pay off. Though going off too freely for his own good on his latest start at Plumpton he kept on for a podium finish, and is likely to be given more of a chance with the champion jockey in his saddle.

FFOS LAS

Race 2 No4 UNSPEAKABLE (Nap)
Trainer: Christian Williams – Jockey: Jack Tudor

Locally trained UNSPEAKABLE attracted support when scoring at Taunton and again when third at Newton Abbot, but having looked short on stamina last time should find this shorter trip more suitable and can return to winning ways.

Race 5 No4 PITTSBURG
Trainer: R Potter – Jockey: Freddie Mitchell

PITTSBURG made a good fist of it when trying to complete a hat- trick at Market Rasen. He’s subsequently been well beaten returned to the Flat, but came back with excuses and is worth supporting to bounce back.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 2 No12 WHO IS ALICE
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop

WHO IS ALICE hails from a stable whose juveniles are leaving the ground later than usual. However, the daughter of Kameko has shown promise in her work and from the favoured rail can become its first two-year-old winner of the season.

Race 5 No3 CATHERINE’S GIFT (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Trevor Whelan

CATHERINE’S GIFT troubled the judge on her only start for German connections at Chantilly and is well worth a market check on her UK debut. She will appreciate the longer trip, and can put her past experience to good use against newcomer Sea The Wonder.
