CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 1 No2 ANEIRIN’S SWORD (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Osborne – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

With only five races under his belt ANEIRIN’S SWORD is open to further improvement and there’s been a marked difference in his form since he went handicapping. He popped up at 14-1 over the course and distance in early January and made a good fist of it against Hamaleel when narrowly denied on his latest outing at Kempton. The grey can keep up the good work as one of the best bets on this card.

Race 4 No7 MONKS MEAD
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: George Bass

Bass has struck up a good rapport with MONKS MEAD who has plied his trade exclusively to Lingfield this winter but is a past winner at this course. If repeating either of his last two efforts the grey will be hard to beat.

Race 6 No1 GUNDOGAN
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: William Carson

Carroll chose GUNDOGAN from his three entries he he looks the pick. Now with his fourth trainer, the Territories gelding put in his best of five AW outings when chasing home the impressive Cill Mocheallog at Southwell and that good effort suggests he’s on the cusp of making this an overdue first success on sand.

Race 7 No2 TUBA
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Gina Mangan

Recent evidence suggests TUBA is running better than at any time in his career. A win at Wolverhampton, third at Lingfield and second at Southwell backs that up, and the grey just needs to demonstrate that he’s effective on this belated first visit to the Chelmsford Polytrack.
