GOODWOOD

Race 1 No7 MISTER WINSTON
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jason Watson

MISTER WINSTON absolutely bolted up Newmarket last week in a performance that earned him a 10lb rise in the weights. However, he has come out of it in such a way that a follow-up success is probably on the cards.

Race 2 VIRGIN BET PRESTIGE FILLIES’ STAKES ( Group 3)

No3 MOON TARGET (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

MOON TARGET makes considerable appeal in this mouth watering clash with Irish raider Precise. She’s been impressive in both her successes and especially when scoring by eight lengths at Yarmouth. Precise opened her account in no nonsense fashion at Cork and looks the one most likely to fill the other side of the exacta.

Race 4 VIRGIN BET CELEBRATION MILE (Group 2)

No6 JONQUIL
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Colin Keane

JONQUIL was all at sea over 1400 metres in the Lennox at Goodwood where the field were stretched out like washing. The Greenham Stakes winner returns to a mile, the trip over which he was narrowly denied in the French 2000 Guineas, and if returning to that level has to be taken seriously. One that can cause him problems is the former French based MAKE ME KING, who is versatile ground-wise, and was a game winner of the Pomfret Stakes last time.

Race 7 No4 BELGRAVIAN
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jason Watson

A hat-trick looks in the grasp of BELGRAVIAN, who since getting his head in front hasn’t looked back. He’s been raised 7lb for his Haydock win, but over the stayers’ trip the Make Believe gelding has looked very assured, and he can make this a fourth success from his last five attempts.

YARMOUTH

Race 2 No10 STARTLED LADY
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Neil Callan

The one with the points on the board in this novice is STARTLED LADY. She’s twice troubled the judge over 1200 metres whilst appearing to be looking for extra. Moved up to 1400 metres here, she can have the measure of Explosion, who looks the one to complete the exacta.

Race 5 No3 PAPA COCKTAIL (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

PAPA COCKTAIL benefitted from an excellent waiting ride when scoring in good style at Doncaster. He was handed a strong pace to aim at and needs that to happen again, but looking at the horses in this field there are a couple that like to force it, and it should.

BEVERLEY

Race 2 No2 EMERALDS PRIDE (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Jason Hart

EMERALDS PRIDE can utilise her track craft to good effect to make this a second success here in 2025. The mare then put in a solid performance to chase home Galaxy Zoo at Ascot, showing that a stiff finish plays to her strengths. Tees Aggregates also brings solid form to the table but could be anchored by a 7lb rise for his recent C/D win.

Race 3 No9 U TURN (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

U TURN notched a deserving first career success over this course and distance last month when he was always in the van. It’s provided a confidence boost to the Land Force colt, who takes his racing well and should again be in the shake-up.

Race 5 No2 SOAMES FORSYTE
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Tom Eaves

SOAMES FORSYTE sprang a 16-1 surprise on his latest start at Nottingham which was his third success of 2025. He’s up against a couple of other last time out winners, but needs respecting for a trainer whose handicappers are in rude health.
