SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No3 SEASMOKE (Nap)
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: Sean Bowen

SEASMOKE was having just a second outing over hurdles when scoring at Market Rasen for which she is 4lb higher. With the champion jockey in her irons the Flemensfirth mare can follow-up.

Race No10 ZAMEK
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

But for running green ZAMEK might have got closer to the useful Kosac D’oudaries at Lingfield and the grey is going to be more streetwise for his clash with SHADE OF WINTER. The selection was placed in his only bumper run and being so lightly raced has plenty of scope for further progression.

CARLISLE

Race 1 No1 CRISTAL D’ESTRUVAL (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Derham – Jockey: Paul O’Brien

Bought for a huge sum after winning his point, CRISTAL D’ESTRUVAL made a perfect start to racing under Rules when scoring at Warwick. He’s one of the most interesting runners of the day, and can defy a 7lb penalty.

Race 3 No4 IDAHO VALLEY
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

Point winner IDAHO VALLEY has troubled the judge a few times over hurdles including when chasing home Amancio at Sedgefield. Key to his winning chance in this maiden hurdle is the longer trip which will play to his strengths.

Race 4 No3 NAB WOOD
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

After winning on his comeback, NAB WOOD did too much racing close to the pace and weakened to finish out of the money at Haydock. That looked a better race than today’s and he’s capable of bouncing back.
