NOTTINGHAM

Race 1 No8 CAPTAIN CESS
Trainer: Adrian Wintle – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Two horses with identical profiles take my eye in the opener, with CAPTAIN CESS narrowly preferred over CLASSIC CAUSE. The latter was beaten in a blanket finish at Southwell and now tries a longer trip, but Captain Cess was denied in an equally close finish at Bath and hails from a stable that is proving hot with its handicappers.

Race 4 No3 CAPITALISATION (Nap)
Trainer: H Al Jehani – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

From a yard that produced the now second favourite for the Coventry Stakes at Yarmouth last week, CAPITALISATION could prove another decent prospect in this 1000 metres maiden. The Mehmas colt cost £260,000 and is the subject of favourable reports from Newmarket as he embark as on his career in the colours of Wathnan Racing.

FAKENHAM

Race 1 No2 HOWTH (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

HOWTH got the job done in a professional manner on his debut under Rules at Market Rasen. He will have learned from that experience, sufficiently so to down paper favourite High Court Judge and remain unbeaten.

Race 6 No5 GONE IN SIXTY
Trainer: Alice Stevens – Jockey: Alex Hales

GONE IN SIXTY did well to finish second at Bangor last time considering he took a very keen hold and met with interference. Should the Sixties Icon gelding consent to settle he can take care of business in the nightcap.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 4 No8 PHYSIQUE (Nap)
Trainer: Pam Sly – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Irish import PHYSIQUE has shown gradual progress for his new trainer, highlighted by a near miss atNewmarket last time. That should have brought the Kingman gelding to the boil for a race that should prove well within his compass.

Race 5 No10 CATCH CUNNINGHAM (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

CATCH CUNNINGHAM has put in several good efforts since the last of his five career successes and takes the eye on a belated first visit to this course. He finished second in a big field at Lingfield (turf) last time, and can get into the shake up if transferring the form back onto Polytrack.

Race 7 No12 JIMMY SPEAKING (Each Way)
Trainer: Chris Dwyer – Jockey: Joe Leavy

Apart from needing to overcome a difficult draw on the outer, JIMMY SPEAKING has plenty going for him for a veteran trainer who not long ago relinquished his licence but came back. The selection was the subject of not inconsiderable backing when third at Ascot last month and can be supported to recoup those losses.
