CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 2 No2 SHAMAL WIND
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Jason Hart

SHAMAL WIND is a beautifully bred individual, being by Dubawi out of a Dansili mare. He raised his game when equipped with first-time blinkers and having his attention turned to nurseries to chase home Griselda at Thirsk. If building on that promising effort he can open his account.

Race 6 No7 SIR GARFIELD
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart

SIR GARFIELD has the distinction of never having failed to earn in five career outings on turf, and was a winner here on his only previous visit last month. He’s posted three very solid near misses subsequently, and from a good draw looks poised for another frame finish at the very least.

WORCESTER

Race 3 No4 BOY FROM BRAZIL
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

While not an obvious choice for this bumper on what he’s achieved so far, BOY FROM BRAZIL is interesting on a first start in nine months. The fact that he started favourite for his first outing at Stratford indicates he had shown something at home, while a disappointing effort at Cheltenham happened in a much better race than this, when he wasn’t happy on the ground.

Race 6 No11 OCEANLINE
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor

OCEAN LINE failed to trouble the judge in four outings last season but returns to the fray following three readying runs on the Flat in which he’s been highly tried. Winner of a novice hurdle at this track, he could be a blot on the handicap and looks sure to give a good account.

WINDSOR

Race 1 No3 PARTY ISLAND
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: George Bass

PARTY ISLAND has had Bass in her saddle for each of her 2024 successes on the all-weather and turf. The combination find themselves in a race that has cut up favourably, and can add to their laurels by halting the sequence of hat-trick seeker Niloufar.

Race 3 No4 BRAVE CALL
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

BRAVE CALL takes a step back on the class ladder after being out of his depth in Listed company at Newmarket. The Churchill colt had previously troubled the judge in the Newbury novice won by Voyage, who ran well at Newbury on Saturday. If repeating that level of form he can take the spoils.

Race 5 No7 DARKENED EDGE
Trainer: Christopher Mason – Jockey: Gina Mangan

Mangan has been an integral part of the success of Mason’s horses this year and now gets the chance to post another success on DARKENEDEDGE. The selection opened her account with an emphatic success at Bath at the beginning of the month and although higher in the weights is in a good place to follow up.

Race 6 No5 DIAMOND COTTAGE
Trainer: Malcolm Saunders – Jockey: Gina Mangan

DIAMOND COTTAGE makes a quick return to action after deadheating for second at Salisbury last week. The mare was given every chance behind a runaway winner, and can go one better with the in-form Mangan returned to her saddle.

YARMOUTH

Race 2 No9 WILTSHIRE LAD (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Rhys Clutterbuck

WILTSHIRE LAD ran into a smart foe when chasing home Seagolazo at Chester and has learned much from that experience to suggest the Wootton Bassett colt can cause problems for paper favourite Back In Black.

Race 3 No2 FRINTON
Trainer: Tom Clover – Jockey: Neil Callan

FRINTON tried to go all the way on debut at Windsor only to be reeled in late. He will not only improve mentally for that first visit to the track, but can prove more effective if ridden with restraint this time.
