BRIGHTON
Race 2 No6 WHITE DEER
Trainer: Richard Hughes – Jockey: Joe Leavy
Apart from paper favourite Airside there’s little form to go on in this weak looking maiden it could therefore pay to watch the market, and should there be money for WHITE DEER is shall follow it. The grey hails from a stable that has done well with juveniles owned by Jaber Abdulla, in whose colours the El Kabeir colt runs.
Race 5 No1 TENBOB TOMMY (Nap)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Charles Bishop
TENBOB TOMMY could prove the value play as the least exposed runner in this Class5 handicap. He troubled the judge in novices at Windsor and Newbury, and though out of the money in his first run in a handicap is well related, being by Ten Sovereigns out of the unbeaten Chepstow scorer Swinging Jean.
WORCESTER
Race 2 No2 SAIL AWAY
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Atkins
It took SAIL AWAY the length of the season to finally put one on the board, and on his reappearance the bold jumping grey might prove the pick of five runners from his stable. What lingered in the mind from his Aintree success was the way the grey dominated from the front on quicker ground, and this is a track that suits front runners. Obviously his chance will be stronger should the going remain at its current description.
Race 4 No7 THE EXPENSIVE ONE
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
In the colours of his trainer, THE EXPENSIVE ONE can make an impact on this second start since switching to hurdling. The gelded son of Derby winner Harzand was returning from a break and met with interference on his debut over jumps at Fakenham from which he’s learned plenty. He acts on good and soft ground, and should handle the track.
Race 8 No9 SHANTOU LUCKY (Nap)
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Nathan Howie
SHANTOU LUCKY scored without coming off the bridle on his debut for Owen at Fontwell. He operates from an unchanged mark, will not mind dropping back in trip and should make no mistake as the best bet of the day.
THIRSK
Race 2 No4 RUM THERAPY (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman
RUM THERAPY did us a good turn as a 25-1 scorer at Beverley before narrowly failing to catch Magistery at Carlisle. The Dark Angel filly has learned the rudiments of sprinting, and from a good draw can return to winning ways.
Race 3 No9 TAKE A TRIP
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Connor Beasley
Bethell has an interesting runner in Bradbury but the one to be on is his barnmate TAKE A TRIP, an Ardad colt who has shown promise at home ahead of this first run and who should pay to follow whatever happens today. There’s not a lot of form to go on and if the selection proves strong in the market he can prevail.
Race 6 No7 VELVET WHISPER (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Oisin Orr
Ravishing Beauty brings strong claims to the table and will be hard to beat, but after a wind operation it could be worth backing VELVET WHISPER to realise her early potential. The daughter of Calyx troubled the judge on her first two outings of 2025 but the breathing issues dogged her on a first handicap run at Doncaster. With her undoubted ability a small investment is in order if near her paper price.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 1 No9 PORT OF LONDON (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: William Buick
Back from his short trip to the US, Buick can guide PORT OF LOBDON home from the favoured rail. The Night Of Thunder colt raised his game to chase home a talented newcomer on AW debut and after proving costly to follow so far can now open his account.
Race 5 No5 MYTHICAL BIRD
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Egan
MYTHICAL BIRD has made the podium on successive starts on the AW including a very good effort at Wolverhampton last time. The Phoenix Of Spain filly has a good draw in this second division of the mile handicap and should cope with the cut back in trip.
Race 8 No3 SAX APPEAL
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
SAX APPEAL has been making hay since stepping up to the stayers’ trip with two wins from his last three outings. He has the red hot Oisin Murphy doing the steering and is strongly fancied to defy his new mark on the long haul from Middleham.
