PLUMPTON
Race 2 No1 SHANTOU LUCKY
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Nathan Howie
SHANTOU LUCKY has displayed a liking for this track, and though underwhelming on his latest start at Fontwell can bounce back to make this a fourth success from six outings as a chaser. He’s built up a good understanding with his rider, who is value for his claim.
Race 4 No5 GLENGOLLY (Each Way)
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
GLENGOLLY is on his second outing after a breathing operation and should be fitter after returning with a minor frame finish at Ffos Las. His stable looks to be running into some form, and if anyone can get a tune out of him it’s Sheehan.
Race 6 No1 KOOL KID (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell
A move into handicap should prove just what the doctor ordered for KOOL KID whose novice form makes him one to take seriously. This is a welcome new ball game for the selection, who will act on the tight track and has underfoot conditions in his favour.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 2 No2 ANGEL GABRIEL (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
ANGEL GABRIEL ran well in defeat on heavy ground on debut before showing she is just as good on the AW when second at Southwell. This 1200 metres should suit her better than market rival HEN PARTY, though the latter appeals as the other side of the exacta.
Race 6 No5 TOMMY’S PROMISE
Trainer: John Ryan – Jockey: Donagh Murphy
TOMMY’S PROMISE wasn’t stopping when scoring over a shorter trip at Chelmsford and should be right at home racing on the same surface under a capable apprentice who takes 7lb off his back. He can maintain his progress to thwart another recent scorer in KRISSY.
Race 7 No8 KNIGHT OF MAGIC
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Callum Shepherd
Although he’s squandered a few chances, KNIGHT OF MAGIC has nevertheless run well in defeat, and now cutting back in trip from a good draw can deservedly break his maiden.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 No3 VARIETY ACT
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris
The one with the points on the board in this restricted maiden is VARIETY ACT. The Lope De Vega gelding posted a near miss on his Chelmsford introduction and probably only needs to make normal progress on this second start to open his account.
Race 4 No5 CALIBAN
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
Military Cross turns up with figures of 22222 which leaves a question mark against the poorly drawn favourite. The one that can exploit any weakness in him is CALIBAN, who having shown promise to earn in both starts can do much better if he consents to settle.
Race 8 No4 BARRY’S BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: George Bass
BARRY’S BOY proved easy to back but ran well to trouble the judge on a first outing after a wind operation. This is just a fourth run on the all-weather for the selection, and a first at Dunstall Park. He appeals as one of the better bets on a day of low key racing.
